Gruber to run for Wright auditor-treasurer

With the announcement of Darla Groshens’ retirement at
the end of 1998, I, Douglas M. Gruber, would like to announce my intention
to seek the position of Wright County Auditor-Treasurer.

I have been the Wright County assessor for the past 12
years. I was hired as county assessor in January 1986. I have thoroughly
enjoyed serving the citizens of Wright County in this position.

I have strived to treat property owners fairly and equitably
in this position. I believe that my knowledge of the property tax system
along with my background in business makes me the best qualified candidate
to fill the position of Wright County Auditor-Treasurer.

My educational background includes a bachelor of science
degree in business education with a physical education minor from St. Cloud
State University. I am currently a licensed senior accredited Minnesota
assessor. I am an active member of the Minnesota Association of Assessing
Officers and have served on numerous committees within this organization;
most recently serving as a regional director.

My family and I have been residents and homeowners in Buffalo
since June 1986. My wife Geri and I have been married for almost 24 years.
We have three children: Angi, age 21; Meghan, age 6 and Logan, age 3.

I have been licensed as a high school wrestling referee
with the Minnesota State High School League for the past 10 years and had
the honor of officiating in the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament in
1998.

I am an active member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Buffalo.
I am also an active member of the St. Francis Knights of Columbus and have
served as a grand knight for this organization. My hobbies include family
activities, golfing, fishing, and camping.

It is my goal to maintain the high level of professionalism
that Darla established in her eight years of office.
