Two county commissioners will represent HL, Waverly

Filings will be open for all five of the Wright County commissioner seats, along with several other county positions starting Tuesday, July 2.

Local commissioner seats

Two seats are up that closely represent the local area ­ a two-year term, which is currently held by Jack Russek for District 3, and another position for a four-year term held by Dick Mattson for District 5.

Russek's position will serve Woodland Township, Waverly, Delano, Franklin Township, part of Rockford, Rockford Township, and part of Buffalo.

Mattson's position will serve Howard Lake, Montrose Marysville Township, Middleville Township, Southside Township, Stockholm Township, Victor Township, French Lake Township, Cokato Township, Cokato, Maple Lake, South Haven, and Albion Township.

Redistricting caused Waverly and Woodland Township to be transferred to Russek's position.

Maple Lake, South Haven, Stockholm Township, and Albion Township were transferred to Mattson's position.

County attorney, sheriff, auditor/treasurer seats

Other positions open include the county attorney Tom Kelly's seat, Wright County sheriff Gary Miller, and County Auditor/Treasurer Doug Gruber.

Soil, conservation supervisors

There are two soil and water conservation supervisor positions open as well, one for district one and the other district three.

State rep. District 19A

The position for state representative District 19A is also open.

Filing information

Those interested in filing may obtain an application and pay a filing fee at the auditor/treasurer office at the Wright County Government Center in Buffalo. The fee for a commissioner seat filing is $50, and state representative $100.

The deadline is Tuesday, July 16 for all positions.
