St. Boni bridge is okay

The bridge located on Highway 7 at St. Bonifacius will
not require any additional work according to the Minnesota Department of
Transportation (Mn/DOT).

It was rumored that the entire bridge would need to be
completely redone, causing a detour for another summer.

“According to our construction people, everything
is fine on that bridge, and there will be no need for further construction
on it,” said Chris Roy of Mn/DOT.

However, minor road construction will happen from Town
Line Road west to Highway 41 this summer to apply the final application
of blacktop, Roy said.

That construction will occur either during the day with
flaggers, or in the evening hours, he said.

Motorists experienced road construction from St. Boni to
Highway 41 last summer to add features such as widened roads and added turn
lanes.

Wet weather caused the project to finish behind schedule;
it was completed at Thanksgiving.

Another Highway 7 construction project is slated for 2006,
which would add turing and passing lanes from Silver Lake to St. Boni.

That project is not yet finalized.
