Little trick or treaters will be looking for food shelf items

Giving back to the community is what Ashle Lukes, 11, and Alicia Kuhlmann, 13, are planning to do this Halloween.

Candy, treats and other sweet items aren’t on their minds, but rather a sweet idea for those less fortunate – the two girls from Lester Prairie plan to trick or treat for the McLeod County food shelf.

“We wanted to give back to the community instead of taking away,” commented Lukes of their plans.

Kuhlmann agreed, saying they wanted to do more than just think of themselves.

The duo will be dressed as “dancing princesses,” and Lester Prairie homeowners can expect to find them at their doorsteps sometime between 5:30 and 8:30 Halloween night.

Rita Lukes, Ashle’s mom, will be helping to handle the donations that night, with help from Alicia’s mom, Patty Kuhlmann, at a later date since Patty has to work Halloween night.
