Enjoy “three good old days of food, fun and frozen custard” Saturday through Monday, May 27-29, including specials and daily prize drawings as Scoops celebrates its grand opening.

Owners Garwin and Darlene Larson picked menu items different from local restaurants, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as frozen custard.

“We want to offer something different and unique in the Cokato area,” Darlene said.

Some of the items include sandwiches, State Fair corn dogs, Old Style Vienna Beef hot dogs, State Fair cheese curds, homemade soups and a full line of coffee and espresso drinks.

The environment is that similar to an old ice cream parlor with old fashioned game shows featured on their big screen TV as well as sports and news.

“We want to provide a fun, clean, family environment with an atmosphere that was warm and inviting,” Larson said.

Scoops also offer several items for purchase including Popcornopolis popcorn and crafts by local artists.

Each day there is a different flavor of custard offered aside from the vanilla and chocolate made fresh daily.

Two of Larson’s favorite workers are her daughter Jana and their foreign exchange student Chika.

Dana enjoys stocking the shelves with old fashioned items to create nostalgia.

There are many different flavors but the following are special picks. Darlene’s favorite flavor is Dreamcycle, Garwin’s is Butter Pecan, Jana’s is Chunky Monkey, but Chika’s flavor is Vanilla.

The weekend after Scoops’ grand opening, a drive thru will be an option for customers on the go.

Scoops is located on east Highway 12, Cokato and shares a building with Holt Tour and Charter.

Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and Sunday’s 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday: Regular size sundae $2
