Twine Ball Day, Sat., Aug. 11



Spend the day in Darwin enjoying food and entertainment at the 16th annual Darwin Twine Ball Celebration Saturday, Aug. 11.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with a craft fair and collectibles, and a sand volleyball competition.

The Lions Club begins serving hamburgers, brats and beverages at 9:30 a.m., along with a community Pepsi stand serving beverages and snacks all day as well.

There will be a kids’ pedal tractor pull at 10 a.m., with registration at 9:30 a.m.

The parade, featuring local royalty, a variety of area floats, antique cars, and more, begins at 12:30 p.m.

At 2:30 p.m., ear plugs may be needed as the garden tractor pull begins featuring the Minnesota Minn-e-Rods.

A BBQ pork chop dinner served by Darwin Freezer will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $6.50 and can be purchased at the Twine Ball Museum and Twine Ball Antiques, or for $7 at the event.

Music in the Park will begin at 7 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., with the band Backroads appearing.

Cash drawings begin at 8:30 p.m. First cash prize is $300, second place $100, and third through sixth are $50.

All events take place on Main Street, Highway 14 south in Darwin, as well as in Schoolhouse park. All proceeds from the event will go toward the Darwin Tourism and Promotional Fund.
