Metro calling to begin soonBy Kristen Miller Metro calling will begin as of midnight, Thursday, March 15 for everyone with a 286 telephone prefix. Those who will be part of the change-over have been notified in this month’s billing statement, according to Cokato resident and supporter Sandy Peroutka. Residential rates will be increased by $3.69 per month, and businesses will be increased by $7.38 per month for those with a 286 exchange. Metro calling allows people with Cokato prefixes to dial numbers in the Twin Cities or other towns with metro calling without a long distance charge. Other surrounding towns with metro calling include Howard Lake, Winsted, Waverly, Montrose, and Delano. |
