CARVER, McLEOD COUNTIES, MN – The township roundups for the week of Monday, March 29 are as follows:

Watertown Twp. changes election
Instead of annual elections, Watertown Township’s general election will now be the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in even years, according to the Carver County News.

Township officials proposed the change as a way to cut election costs. All supervisor terms were increased from three years to four years.

The next election will be November 2012.

Also, the Watertown Township cleanup day will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1.

Bergen board of appeal April 15
The board of appeals for Bergen Township has been set for Thursday, April 15 at 7 p.m. at the Bergen Township Hall, Clerk Amy Meyer said.

At the March meeting, the township also approved the Glencoe Fire Department contract, and approved a contract for gravel through William Mueller & Sons for $7.49 per ton, which is the same rate as last year.

Victor sets recycling schedule
Victor Township board members discussed the township recycling schedule at the March meeting, and decided to continue to have recycling the first and third Fridays of each month, Clerk Sharon Glessing noted. If Friday is a holiday, recycling will be Saturday.

Winsted Twp. approves gravel bid
At the Winsted Township meeting March 11, the board approved a gravel bid, awarding the contract to Knife River Corporation.

Knife River Corporation was also awarded the contract last year, Clerk Susan Goebel said. The company plans to apply 8,000 cubic yards of gravel in the township.

Winsted Township set its board of appeal for Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. at the Winsted City Hall.
