McLEOD COUNTY, MN Two area townships have updates this week:
Winsted Twp. prepares for spring
The Winsted Township Board began preparing for warmer weather recently by awarding its 2013 gravel contract to Meeker Washed Sand and Gravel. The quoted price is $13.74 per yard, with no fuel surcharge.
Clerk Susan Goebel also reported that the board signed a large assembly permit for the 2013 Winstock festival, approved a 3.2 liquor license for ShadowBrooke Golf Course, and signed a contract with the McLeod County Highway Department for traffic sign repair and installation.
Upcoming meetings for Winsted Township include its annual meeting Tuesday, March 12 at 8 p.m.; its monthly meeting Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m.; and its board of appeal Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m.
All three meetings take place in the Vollmer room of Winsted City Hall.
Bergen Twp. discusses storage; approves kennel CUP
The Bergen Township Board has been discussing options for township equipment storage, and approved a conditional use permit request from Brian Roushar for a commercial kennel.
“The county is moving forward on a plan to build a new county shed and would no longer use the Lester Prairie shed, which is where the township currently keeps the tractor and grader,” Clerk Amy Meyer noted.
The township board is considering renting space from the new county location, or possibly acquiring land and building a new township facility. The board hopes to get public input at the township’s annual meeting Tuesday, March 12 at 8 p.m. at the town hall.
