LP board approves non-certified employment agreement

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – Lester Prairie School Board, during its meeting Sept. 17, approved an employment agreement with the district’s non-certified employees for 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Non-certified employees include paraprofessionals, custodians, kitchen staff, Kids Depot staff, and some administrative staff members.

The new contract includes a 25-cents per hour increase for each cell in the pay grid.

Eligible employees will also move up one step in the scale in each of the two years of the contract.

Employees who have been at the top step of the pay schedule for a minimum of one year and who have been with the district for more than five years shall receive an additional 68 cents per hour.

For the 2018-19 school year, employees who are no longer on the scale will receive an hourly wage of 55 cents greater than their 2017-18 pay; and for 2019-20, will receive an hourly wage of 55 cents greater than their 2018-19 pay.

Odds and ends

In other business, the board:

• approved Kim Schauer as an education paraprofessional.

• approved the resignation of Don Whitaker as junior varsity basketball coach.

• approved the 2019 levy at the maximum amount. Final amount will be provided at the December board meeting.

• approved a school health agreement with Diana Loveland for the 2018-19 school year.

• approved a junior class fundraiser with Carlson’s Orchard.

• approved Andrew Dahl as the head boys’ basketball coach for the 2018-19 season.

• heard from Superintendent Jeremy Schmidt that the busing issue that was discussed at the last board meeting has been resolved because the registered sex offender who prompted the discussion has moved out of the city.

• approved moving the regular November board meeting from Monday, Nov. 19 to Monday, Nov. 12.
