Another close one: LP referendum passes by 8 votes

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – After Lester Prairie School District’s $13 million referendum failed by five votes May 14, the district tried again with a $13.65 million referendum Aug. 13. This time, it passed by eight votes.

The total number of votes cast increased by 235 (25.13 percent), from 935 to 1,170.

The deciding factor was that the numbe of “yes” votes increased slightly more than the number of “no” votes.

There were 589 “yes” votes Aug. 13, compared to 465 in May – an increase of 26.67 percent. There were 581 “no” votes Aug. 13, compared to 470 in May – an increase of 23.62 percent.
