LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – The Prairie Days celebration in Lester Prairie took place June 22 this year, but the event will return to the third weekend in July in 2020, according to committee member Troy Feltmann.

A meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 at the Lester Prairie fire hall to begin planning for next year’s celebration. Anyone interested in helping with the event is welcome to attend.

Feltmann said organizers hope to get participation from more volunteers to help with the many tasks involved in putting the event together.

He noted organizers are hoping to form subcommittees to divide the work. These might include committees to organize the parade, plan a fireworks display, arrange the games, and more. Volunteers are also needed to help with setup prior to the event and cleanup when it is over.

Feltmann said the group will also consider whether to make it a one- or two-day celebration, and the pros and cons of each option will be discussed.
