FOURTH OF JULY WITH A BANG
Delano knows how to celebrate, especially when it comes to America’s birthday – home of the largest and oldest Fourth of July celebration in the state

The red, white, and blue seem to fly just a little bit brighter in Delano around the Fourth of July, when this small town becomes a big attraction to thousands of people from across the state.

Delano’s Fourth of July celebration is the oldest and largest Independence Day celebration in Minnesota.

The celebration lasts at least four days, and includes more than enough entertainment to satisfy every member of the family.

The fun begins days before the fourth, as area softball and baseball teams begin to duke it out in the annual tournament. Fans can cheer on their favorite teams as they sip on cold refreshments.

Next is the arrival of the carnival to the park. Featuring rides, games, and plenty of all-American snacks, including cheese curds and minidonuts, everyone is guaranteed to have fun during the carnival.

During the day, families can pack up a picnic and head to the beach at Lake Rebecca Park.

Many residents can be found at one of the many backyard cook-outs, talking to old friends, and taking in the atmosphere.

The culmination of the festival occurs on the Fourth. It begins with a parade in the morning containing floats from local and area participants out to show off their patriotism.

Then people head to the park to take in one of the live bands and save a spot for the evening’s main event, one of the most stunning fireworks displays around.

So come and celebrate the Spirit of Community and the Fourth of July with Delano!
