Good Neighbor Days are the fourth weekend in June. Activities begin on Thursday, run through Sunday, and culminate in the coronation Sunday evening of Howard Lake royalty.
The celebration includes turtle races, Orphan’s baseball tournaments, raffles, music, and a craft, flea and country market.
Friday events include family fun, such as the kiddie parade.
The One-Block Run, Run of the Lakes, fishing contest, library-sponsored events and other activities are on Saturday. The grand parade begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Food events fill the four-day celebration. The Howard Lake Fire Department grills up its famous pork chops Saturday to raise money for equipment purchases.
The After Prom committee hosts a pancake breakfast Saturday as well.
The National Honor Society holds a car wash to raise funds. A community church service is an annual event Sunday in the high school auditorium.
The events in the festival planned by the Howard Lake Good Neighbor Days Committee, fire department and Howard Lake Lions Club change slightly every year. The fun, though, never varies.
