
Winsted is host to fireworks, canoe races and fun

The Winsted Summer Festival usually takes place the first weekend of August, and is set for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 10-12.
The festival kicks off with Brat Busters Friday at Mill Reserve Park, sponsored by the Winsted Area Chamber of Commerce. A treasure hunt and live music also take place Friday as well.
Saturday kicks off with co-ed volleyball and horseshoes at Hainlin Park. For the youngsters, there is a kiddie parade and clown show at Hainlin Park as well. A firefighters’ water game also takes place near Hainlin Park.
A children’s tractor pull also highlights Saturday. The evening has fun things planned for the kids as well, with games and activities taking place behind the Legion.
Fireworks highlight the day over Winsted Lake, Saturday.
Sunday features the annual firemen’s pancake breakfast, annual car show and parade.
Children’s games continue behind the Legion as well as ice shots, wall climbing, water wars, mini putt, the dunk tank, and the Luce Line mini express train throughout the entire weekend.
Coronation of new royalty tops off the festival with the crowning of Winsted ambassadors Sunday.

Bratbusters set for Friday, Aug. 10
Bratbusters is the highlight of the Friday before the Winsted Summer Festival, which will be Friday, Aug. 10 at Mill Reserve Park in Winsted. Last year, many people stop at the park to enjoy brats and beverages. It is sponsored by the Winsted Area Chamber of Commerce.
