Warm up your winter in Winsted with the Winter Fest

Winsted knows how to take the edge off of winter when December rolls around for the 19th annual Winsted Winter Festival, sponsored by the Winsted Area Chamber of Commerce.
Saturday, Dec. 8, features many events, but the holiday outdoor lighting contest Wednesday during the last week of November kicks off the festival’s list of fun activities.
Plenty of activities abound, including a silent auction, live entertainment, and lunch served by the Winsted royalty Saturday at the Legion Club.
While lunch is served, the most popular guy of the Christmas season visits, “making his list and checking it twice.” It’s a perfect opportunity for the children to tell Santa Claus what they want for Christmas.
Other events include wagon rides given through downtown Winsted, and the St. Paul Railroad Club will display model trains in the city maintenance building (across from Holy Trinity High School). A model train set is given away to a child 12 or under.
A fundraiser dinner is usually featured at the Winsted Legion Club, as well as a bake sale and holiday social at Holy Trinity School cafeteria offered by Holy Trinity’s Council of Catholic Women.
Visiting royalty go caroling at St. Mary’s Assisted Living/Linden Wood Apartments.
There is also a lighted Christmas parade, Saturday evening, with royalty from the surrounding area taking part.
