HLWW School District 2687 Board Minutes

The August 8, 2011 Regular School Board meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:00 p.m.. by Chairman Schaible. After the pledge of allegiance, roll was taken with the following members present: Schaible, Heuer, Wiech, Tintes, Weber, and Weibel; absent: Kocher. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner, and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Schaible reported there is an additional new hire of Marykay Stanek replacing Elizabeth Peterson, and a correction to a last name on the fall coaching list. Heuer motioned to approve the agenda with the addition and changes; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item V) There were no questions or comments from visitors.
(Item VI) Wiech motioned to approve the consent agenda which included the July 11, 2011 Regular Board Meeting minutes, July 25, 2011 Work Session Meeting minutes, August bills, employment recommendations of Megan Forcier as a Language Facilitator, Penny Kruger as a part time food service deliver person, replacing Becky Doebler, rehiring of Gary Schmidt as a high school science teacher for the 2011-12 school year and Heidi Joy-Bursch as the ECSE teacher, fall coaching assignments as presented, communications: back to school packet was mailed July 26, 2011, August Laker will be mailed August 15th, and the following recognitions:
The School Board recognizes all the staff, students, FFA workers, and volunteers, who make sure our buildings, are ready for the students in the fall. Thank you very much for your determination and hard work again this year.
The School Board recognizes HLWW students recently crowned in local city celebrations: Miss Waverly Ariel Kocher, and Princess Callie Tilley were crowned at Waverly Days July 10, 2011. Congratulations to both of you, and good luck in the future.
The School Board recognizes Centra Sota Cooperative-Cokato for donating time, fertilizer and spray for the FFA Crop Plot. Centra Sota comes out once or twice to spray and fertilize. Thank you for your continued support of the district and the FFA Program.
Tintes seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. A) The Budget Committee reviewed the treasurer’s report and recommend for its approval. Wiech motioned to approve the treasurers report; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. B) Superintendent Sellner reviewed the Food Service update, which he indicated that the district is changing back to Word Ware software.
(Item VII, Subd. C) Heuer motioned to adopt the resolution calling for the fall operating levy election; Weber seconded; those in favor: Weber, Weibel, Tintes, Wiech, Heuer and Schaible; opposed: none; absent: Kocher; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. A) Principal Olson gave a brief report.
Principal Day gave a brief report.
Principal Schimelpfenig gave a brief report.
Schimelpfenig gave a brief testing update.
(Item VIII, Subd. B) Each board member gave a brief committee report.
(Item VIII, Subd. C) Superintendent Sellner gave a brief report.
(Item IX) Next Meeting Dates:
• Work Session Meeting - Monday August 22, 2011 6 p.m. High School Media Center- not needed at this time

Wiech motioned to adjourn at 6:39 p.m.; Weibel seconded; passed unanimously.
