HLWW School District 2687 Board Minutes

The December 10, 2012 Regular School Board meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:03 p.m.. by Chairman Schaible. After the pledge of allegiance, roll was taken with the following members present: Schaible, Weber, Weibel, Tintes, Wiech, and Heuer; Kocher arrived at 7:40 pm. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner, Principals Jason Mix, Jim Schimelpfenig, and Jennifer Olson, SMS Financial Consultant Joanna Nigon, and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Joanna Nigon, SMS Financial Consultant, presented the Truth in Taxation Hearing.
(Item V) Weber motioned to approve the agenda; Tintes seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VI) There were no questions or comments from visitors.
(Item VII) Wiech motioned to approve the consent agenda which included the November 13, 2012 Regular Board meeting minutes, November 26, 2012 Work Session minutes, December bills, enrollment the resignation of Melanie Lawrence as the Head Volleyball Coach effective the end of the 2012 season, the employment of Laurie Nelson as the Middle School Secretary effective December 6, 2012 replacing Jan Fitzpatrick, the second reading on the following policies: 209- Code of Ethics, 210-Conflict of Interest-School Board, 213-School Board Committees, 301-School District Administration, 302-Superintendent, 303-Superintendent Selection, 304-Superintendent Contract, Duties & Evaluation, the following communications: Resource Training & Solutions Communicator and Elementary Laker News, and the following recognitions:
The School Board recognizes teachers Kim Looman and Jessica Bogdan who will be honored as TIES Exceptional Teachers at the opening session of the TIES 2012 Education Technology Conference. Congratulations Kim and Jessica. Keep up the good work.
The School Board recognizes the cast, crew, director, pit band and Drama Club for their performances of “The Music Man”. Congratulations on your successful performances at the HLWW Laker Theater.
Weibel seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. A) Heuer motioned to approve the 2011-12 audit as presented; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. B) Wiech motioned to approve the treasurer’s report; Tintes seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. C) Wiech motioned to approve the final 2012 payable 2013 levy limitation and certification; Weibel seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. D) Will be discussed when they arrive.
(Item IX, Subd. A) Principal Schimelpfenig gave a brief report.
Principal Olson gave a brief report.
Principal Mix gave a brief report.
(Item VIII, Subd. D) Tintes motioned to approve teachers on call substitute calling company; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item IX, Subd. B) Each board member gave a brief committee update.
(Item IX, Subd. C) Superintendent Sellner gave a brief report.

Schaible thanked Charles Weber for his 18 years of service as a school board member and presented him with a gift.

Schaible closed the meeting at 7:38 p.m.. to discuss labor negotiations strategies.

Weibel motioned to adjourn at 8:34 p.m.; Wiech seconded; passed unanimously.
