BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING
Monday, February 8, 2016
HLWW HS Media Center
The February 8, 2016 Regular School Board meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Chairperson Wiech. After the pledge of allegiance, roll call was taken with the following members present: Wiech, Heuer, Bush, Bravinder and Kocher; absent: Diers. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner, and Donna Wilson filled in as secretary.
(Item IV) Heuer motioned to approve the agenda; Bravinder seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item V) There were no questions or comments from visitors.
(Item VI) Heuer motioned to approve the consent agenda which included the January 11, 2016 Organizational/Regular meeting minutes, January 25, 2016 Work Session meeting minutes, February bills, enrollment, a leave request from GraceMary Westling starting February 2, 2016 for up to eight weeks, the employment of Emily Kieser as a 7th grade coach for girls softball beginning the spring of 2016, and Loren Butterfass as a PM bus route driver, and the following policies: 211-Criminal or Civil Action Against School, Employee or Student; 523-Policies Incorporated by Reference; 601-School District Curriculum & Instruction Goals; 801-Equal Access to School Facilities; 901-Community Education; 904-Distribution of Materials; 905-Advertising; 906-Community Notification of Predatory Offenders, the following communications: Elementary Laker News, Teaching Today-Winter 2016 Volume 2, Resource Training and Solutions Communicator, and the following recognitions:
The School Board recognizes David and Pamella Oberfeld for their donations of $500 to the Drama Club, and $500 to the Middle School Band department and $250 to the Middle School Choir department. Thank you for your generous donations to the school district.
The School Board recognizes Michael Holtz for donating $50 to the school district. Thank you for your donation.
The School Board recognizes Robert and Kathleen Denison for donating $20 to the school district for the hall of fame. Thank you for your donation.
Bravinder seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. A) Heuer motioned to approve the treasurer’s report; Kocher seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. B) Bravinder motioned to approve the calendar for 2016-17, with the change of adding day off before Thanksgiving and the last day being June 8, and 2017-18 school year, as presented; Bush seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. C) Heuer motioned to approve the school board committee assignments with the addition of one more member for the DCAC/WBWF Committee (three total); Kocher seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. D) The board meeting per diems for attendance at events was tabled until next month.
(Item VII, Subd. E) Bravinder motioned to approve Superintendent Sellner as the school representative and Kocher as the school board representative for MSHSL; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. F) Bush motioned to approve Upper Midwest Athletic Construction’s estimate for $64,870 for track resurfacing; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. G) Heuer motioned to approve the student overnight trip for FFA-Agriculture and Foods students to Germany and Italy July 1-10 2017; Kocher seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. H) Heuer motioned to approve an additional custodial position; Bush seconded; passed unanimously.

(Item VII, Subd. J) The Policy Committee recommends the first reading of the policy 530-Immunization Requirements.
(Item VIII, Subd. A) Superintendent Sellner gave a report.
