REGULAR MEETING
Monday, April 10, 2017
HLWW HS Media Center
The April 10, 2017 Regular School Board meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairperson Wiech. After the pledge of allegiance, roll was taken with the following members present: Wiech, Lasiuk, Heuer, Bush, Diers and Detlefsen; absent: Bravinder. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Diers motioned to approve the agenda; Detlefsen seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item V) There were no questions or comments from visitors.
(Item VI) Diers motioned to approve the consent agenda which included the March 13, 2017 Regular Board Meeting minutes, March 27, 2017 Work Session Meeting minutes, April bills, building project bills, enrollment, the retirement of Felicity Ostvig as a Winsted Elementary Preschool Teacher effective June 30, 2017; and the following resignations: Erica Arvidson-Food Service Cook effective April 13, 2017; Ryan Tri as a Social Studies teacher effective the end of the 2016-17 school year; Lucas Hegland as a Health and Phy Ed Teacher at the High School effective the end of the 2016-17 school year; and Lori Murphy as para and food service at Humphrey Elementary effective April 21, 2017, the following change in positions: Sheri Arneson to full time cook at the High School/Middle School replacing Erica Arvidson; and Lori Murphy to 5.5 satellite cook at Humphrey Elementary site replacing Sheri Arneson; and the following lane changes: James Carr from BA30 to MA; Emily Konerza from BA to BA10; Jay Krzmarzick from MA10 to MA20; Carol Meyerson from BA30 to MA; Wade Moravec from MA20 to MA30; Ashley Roemer from BA30 to MA, the second reading and approval of the policy 409-Employee Publications, Instructional Materials, Inventions, and Creations; 412-Expense Reimbursement; 416-Drug and Alcohol Testing; 503-Student Attendance; 508-Extended School Year for Certain Students with Individualized Education Programs; 511-Student Fundraising, communications: Elementary Laker News, thank you from Laura Spike Family-Jeanne Boeson’s family, Teaching Today-Spring 2017 Volume 1, and the following recognitions:
The School Board recognizes L & K Landscaping from St. Michael for donating $4,050 in trees last fall. Thank you for your donation to the school district.
The School Board recognizes the Waverly Lions for donating $275 to HLWW Softball. Thank you for your donation and continued support of the school district
Detlefsen seconded; passed unanimously.
Superintendent Sellner commented the administration has implemented an exit interview of about 10 questions, and we will keep you updated as we go thru this process.
(Item VII, Subd. A) Diers motioned to approve the treasurer’s report; Detlefsen seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. B) Detlefsen motioned to increase lunch price by 10 cents and breakfast prices by five cents; Diers seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. C) Superintendent Sellner reviewed the LTFM funding for the track replacement project, and explained how LTFM funding works.
(Item VII, Subd. D) Heuer motioned to approve New Look Contracting base bid and alternate one, and hold on alternate two; Diers seconded; Bush asked what it would cost for a pool. Sellner said “I don’t know”. Heuer said we would need to have a referendum because we can’t use LTFM funds for it. Those in favor: Lasiuk, Heuer, Diers, Detlefsen and Wiech; Bush: opposed; passed by majority.
(Item VII, Subd. E) Heuer motioned to approve the agreement between HLWW Community Ed and the City of Howard Lake for the summer recreation program with the recommended changes; Diers seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. F) Diers motioned to approve the MOU to the Superintendent contract; Detlefsen seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VII, Subd. G) The Policy Committee recommends the first reading of the policy 527-Student Use & Parking of Motor Vehicles; 606-Textbooks & Instructional Materials; 607-Organization of Grade Levels; 610-Field Trips. Bush requested to discuss policy 527-Student Use & Parking of Motor Vehicles at the work session.
(Item VII, Subd. H) Discuss and approve work session agenda items.

Heuer motioned to approve the items for the April Work Session; Detlefsen seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. A) Wiech requested the board members to complete the graduation form, and there were no other reports.
