|HLWW BOARD OF EDUCATION WORK SESSION MEETING
Monday, April 24, 2017
HLWW HS Media Center
The April 24, 2017 School Board Work Session meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:00 pm. by Chairperson Wiech. After the pledge of allegiance, roll was taken with the following members present: Wiech, Lasiuk, Heuer, Bush, Bravinder and Diers; Detlefsen arrived at 6:02pm. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner, Principals Jason Mix, Jim Schimelpfenig, and Jennifer Olson, and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Heuer motioned to approve the agenda; Diers seconded; Diers asked when the Ag teacher would be brought to the board for approval. Sellner indicated we are still waiting on paperwork. Motion passed unanimously.
(Item V, Subd. A) Bravinder motioned to approve the consent agenda which included approving the resignation of Amanda Byrne as a High School English Teacher effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year, and the following employment recommendations: the internal transfer of James Carr to High School Social Studies Teacher effective the 2017-18 school year, replacing Ryan Tri ; and Tanner Krutzig to High School PE & Health effective the 2017-18 school year, replacing Lucas Hegland; Diers seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VI, Subd. A) Sadaf Nassiri and Amber Gunderson representatives from Student Council reviewed projects and activities the Student Council did over the school year.
(Item VI, Subd. B) Superintendent Sellner reviewed the information regarding the color choice for the track.
Heuer motioned to reject alternate two; Diers second; passed unanimously.
(Item VI, Subd. C) Superintendent Sellner reviewed the 2017-18 budget overview.
(Item VI, Subd. D) Superintendent Sellner reviewed policy 527-Student Use & Parking of Motor Vehicles.
(Item VII, Subd. A) Principal Olson gave a report.
Principal Schimelpfenig gave a report.
Principal Mix gave a report.
(Item VII, Subd. B) Superintendent Sellner gave a report.

(Item VII, Subd. D) Diers requested to have all school board committee reports given orally. Wiech and Heuer indicated to save time at the meetings and also have a way to look back on information we went to a written format. Diers agreed.
Detlefsen asked if the work place surveys are anonymous, and if the board would be able to see the information. Sellner reported yes they are anonymous and he will see what type of format the information is given to review.

• Bush requested the board members brain storm on ideas, such as the lunch schedule, activities, increasing the lunch hour so students have time to visit with teachers, etc.
Wiech directed the members to compile a list of things they wanted to discuss and get it to the Superintendent.
Heuer motioned to adjourn at 7:54 p.m.; Detlefsen seconded; passed unanimously.
