|BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING
Monday, December 11, 2017

The December 11, 2017 Regular School Board meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairperson Wiech. After the pledge of allegiance, roll was taken with the following members present: Wiech, Heuer, Bush, Bravinder, Diers and Detlefsen; absent: Lasiuk. Also present were Superintendent Brad Sellner and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Donna Wilson, SMS Financial Consultants, presented the truth in taxation hearing.
(Item V) Heuer motioned to approve the agenda; Diers seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VI) There were no questions or comments from visitors.
(Item VII) Detlefsen motioned to approve the consent agenda which included the November 13, 2017 Regular Board meeting minutes, the December bills, Building Project bills, November enrollment, the employment recommendation of Kelly Jansson as a middle school para effective January 2, 2018 this is a new position approved at the November board meeting, the second reading and approval of the following policies: 401 Equal Employment Opportunity, 402 Disability Nondiscrimination Policy, 406 Public and Private Personnel Data, 407-Employee Right to KnowExposure Hazardous Substances, 427 Workload Limits for Certain Special Education Teachers, the Elementary Laker News, Teaching Today Fall 2017 Volume 2, and the following recognitions:
The School Board recognizes the cast, crew, director and Drama Club for their performances of “Honk”. Congratulations on your successful performance.
The School Board recognizes Brooke Decker on being named Central Minnesota Conference Volleyball Coach of the Year. Congratulations Brooke. Keep up the good work.
Heuer seconded; Bravinder opposed; passed by majority.
(Item VIII, Subd. A) Heuer motioned to approve $4,392,278.17 as the Final Levy Limitation & Certification of 2017 Payable 2018; Bravinder seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. B) Bravinder motioned to approve the treasurer’s report; Detlefsen seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. C) Heuer motioned to approve Howard Lake City Hall as the school district’s combined polling place; Diers seconded; those in favor: Detlefsen, Diers, Bravinder, Bush, Heuer and Wiech; opposed: none; absent: Lasiuk; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. D) Diers motioned to approve the Middle School FFA Advisor; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. E) Heuer motioned to approve the student overnight trip to Concordia College-Moorhead January 19-20, 2018; Detlefsen seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item VIII, Subd. F) The Policy Committee recommends the first reading of the following policies: 512-School Sponsored Student Publications & Activities, 518-DNR-DNI Orders, 519-Interviews of Students by Outside Agencies, 520-Student Surveys, 528-Student Parental, Family, and Marital Status Nondiscrimination, 529-Staff Notification of Violent Behavior by Students
(Item IX, Subd. A) Wiech indicated the principal reports are in your packet to review.
(Item IX, Subd, B) Superintendent gave a report.
(Item IX, Subd, C) Wiech indicated the School Board Committee reports are in your packet to review.

Heuer reported Mr. Mix indicated in his report there were new electives at the high school and asked if he could bring that information to the January work session. Sellner reported he will check to see if he has the information ready to present to the board by then.
Heuer motioned to adjourn at 6:57 p.m.; Bravinder seconded; passed unanimously.
