HLWW School District 2687 Board Minutes

The April 23, 2018 Regular School Board meeting of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted ISD #2687 was called to order at 6:00 p.m.. by Chairperson Wiech. After the pledge of allegiance, roll was taken with the following members present: Wiech, Lasiuk, Heuer, Bush and Diers; absent: Bravinder, Detlefsen, Principal Mix and Superintendent Sellner. Also present were Principals Jim Schimelpfenig and Jennifer Olson, and Board Secretary Marilyn Greeley.
(Item IV) Heuer motioned to approve the agenda; Diers seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item V, Subd. A) Elementary teachers Laura Heuer, Vawn Krzmarzick and Jessica Ingra.m. presented information on the Elementary Laker Proud groups.
(Item V, Subd. B) Principal Olson and Elementary Teachers, Stefanie Thorsen, Karen Ready, Jessica Stifter and Stephen Boger reviewed the kindergarten assessment and welcome days proposal for the 2018-19 school year.
(Item V, Subd. C) Wiech indicated a parent paying for tickets for athletic events was a topic Mr. Bush wanted to discuss.
(Item V, Subd. D) Wiech indicated the military wall was a topic Mr. Bush wanted to discuss. Wiech reported Principal Mix was having difficulties with the company he was working with for the military wall and so he is going to start over with another company as he indicated in his report.
(Item V, Subd. E) Wiech reported we needed to bring the approval for the parking lot projects to the work session so we can get on their schedule for the summer season.
Diers motioned to approve Omann Bros. for the asphalt projects at the High School and Humphrey Elementary; Heuer seconded; Bush asked who determined this needed to be done. Principal Olson said you can stop by to look at the parking lot. Olson also reported we did receive two quotes. Wiech reminded the board that we would be utilizing the funds remaining from the track project to pay for this project. Bush was opposed; passed by majority.
(Item V, Subd. F) Wiech indicated Mr. Bush included the article about later school start times and asked if there anything he wanted to discuss. Bush said he just wanted the board to be aware.
(Item VI, Subd. A) Wiech indicated the high school report is attached to review
Principal Olson gave a report.
Principal Schimelpfenig gave a report.
(Item VI, Subd. B) Wiech indicated the Superintendent report is attached to review.
