Diers amended his motion to approve the property and casualty insurance with Continental Western including the cyber option one and decline the umbrella policy; Heuer seconded; passed unanimously.
(Item V, Subd. C) Wiech indicated the morning practices was a topic Mr. Bush wanted to discuss. Wiech indicated Scott Berning, Activities Director, is here to review his information. Bush asked Berning if the school that moved to later start times eliminated morning practices. Berning indicated they did not eliminate morning practices. Berning reported he spoke to 20 different schools and morning practices mainly impacted FFA, Fine Arts, and Music. Bush expressed his concern over students on the road so early when it is dark. Superintendent Sellner indicated the coaches monitor the weather and he and the Activities Director also watch the weather and have canceled morning practices because of the weather. Heuer said she appreciated where Bush was coming from, but it is dark when students go home after practice or games at night as it is in the morning. Bush said he wanted to go on record saying he was very concerned about the morning practices.
Superintendent Sellner asked Mr. Berning to give an update on the concession stand. Berning said the concession stand was purchased in 2008, and electrical was updated a few years ago. However we have the opportunity to work with our local inspector on putting a concession stand under our current bleachers. Berning also said if we have people donate the labor, which we have people already interested in doing, we would only have to pay for materials, and we should break even on the cost. Berning also said right now we have another school interested in purchasing the concession stand trailer. Berning said the resale at this point is pretty good, it should be worth about $6,000 to $7,000.
