Lester Prairie City Council Minutes

August 25, 2005

Pursuant to published and posted notice, the Lester Prairie City Council met in special session on Thursday, August 25, 2005. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m..

The purpose of said special session was to meet jointly with the Planning & Zoning Commission to discuss the updating of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and following that joint meeting, to review the 2006 budget and any other business deemed necessary.

Matt Johnson stated that the Comprehensive Plan needs to be updated due to changes and growth. It basically is a growth management plan used to promote development and communication with the townships for future land use. He reiterated that the plan does not mean the City is looking at annexing the land but rather developing a plan as to how the City would want the surrounding areas to be developed and its uses. The heart of the plan is the goals and objectives in Chapter 6.

Discussion took place.

No action was taken and the joint meeting portion was closed at 7 :50 p.m., and Mayor Angvall called the special meeting to order at 7:55 p.m. to discuss the 2006 budget and any other business deemed necessary.

General consensus of the City Council was to review the budget and levy at the September meeting.

General consensus of the City Council was to set the Truth in Taxation meeting date for Monday, December 5th, 2005, at 6:30 p.m.

Motion - Mallak; Second - Bruckschen; Carried - Unanimously; To authorize the placement of a congratulatory ad in the newspaper for Rebbeka Dammann as Princess Kay of the Milky Way.

Mayor Angvall adjourned the meeting at 8:50 p.m.
