Lester Prairie City Council Minutes
February 27, 2007
Pursuant to posted public notice, the Lester Prairie City Council met in special session on Tuesday, February 27th, 2007. Mayor Angvall called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of said special session was to meet with the Park Board to discuss park related issues and take any necessary actions.
General consensus of the City Council was to agree to a change in swimming pool hours however, the staffing for the pool should be determined to assure there is ample staff to cover the shifts.
Motion Foust; Second Mallak; Carried Unanimously; To authorize an expenditure of up to $600.00 to be used toward the purchase of a new batting cage net. Additional funding will have to come from other sources.
General consensus was for Councilmember Heimerl and Park Board Member Chris Schultz to work with the School District on Athletic Field contract renewal.
General consensus was for Councilmember Heimerl to check into the prices of merry-go-round and slide replacements to see what the combination price would be. There is $5,000.00 in the budget for main park equipment replacement and perhaps both items could be purchased for that amount. City employees are to remove the current merry-go-round at their earliest convenience.
General consensus was the City should have an official formal written response from Mr. Nies regarding the use of the railroad property for the downtown park and would await such a response. Also, proposed funding options should be looked into as well as fundraisers so the project doesn’t use tax payer dollars. It was also suggested that the hiring of a consultant to prepare a comprehensive plan for the park be considered.
Motion Heimerl; Second Mallak; Carried Unanimously; To advertise the sale of the bandstand with removal to take place prior to June 1st.
General consensus was the Park Board should work with City employees to develop the layout and plan for Sunrise Park as well as a time table for completion of items.
Mayor Angvall adjourned the meeting at 9:10 p.m.
