Lester Prairie City Council Minutes
May 12, 2009
The Lester Prairie City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
Mayor Heimerl called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Motion - Mallak; Second - Foust; Carried - Unanimously; To accept and approve the April Minutes as submitted.
Motion - Hoof; Second - Foust; Carried - Unanimously; To accept and approve the April Treasurer’s Report.
Motion - Heimerl; Second - Messer, Carried - To waive the City’s portion ($243.68) of the permit fee for the gazebo.
Motion - Mallak; Second - Heimerl; Carried - To eliminate the installation of curb section for the downtown park project.
Motion - Heimerl; Second - Mallak; Carried - Unanimously; To table further discussion regarding the insurance claims, due to hail damage, until the June meeting.
Motion - Hoof; Second - Heimerl; Carried - Unanimously; The City will have Litzau Excavating put in a catch basin at the spillway on Cedar Street South, at the City’s expense, with the understanding that Milan and Barb Dammann will pay for the tiling that should go from the catch basin to the pit.
Motion - Hoof; Second - Mallak; Carried - Unanimously; To have Hydro Engineering do work on the #3 well, as quoted, at the estimated cost of $12,500.00.
Motion - Messer; Second - Hoof, Carried. - Unanimously; To allow the purchase of ag lime and chalk for the ballfields with the cost not to exceed $1,000.00 with the understanding that School District will pay for 1/2 of the cost of the field chalk.
Motion - Heimerl Second - Messer; Carried - Unanimously; Councilmember Mallak is to work with the Maintenance Department, prepare a list of sidewalks that need repair/replacement, have a letter sent to the affected property owners informing them of the need to repair/replace their sidewalk, request the work be done on or before July 31, 2009, or the City will hire the work to be done at the property owner’s expense.
Motion - Messer; Second - Mallak; Carried - Unanimously; To propose a one year Athletic Field Agreement to School District #424 with a 2% fee increase for their approval.
General consensus of the City Council was to allow the Prairie Days organization to use the drag for the ballfields during Prairie Days.
Motion - Foust; Second - Mallak; Carried - Unanimously; To pay the claims as submitted.
Mayor Heimerl adjourned the meting at 8:15 p.m.
