Wednesday January 31, 2007
A special meeting of the Board of Education of District 424, Lester Prairie, Mcleod County, Minnesota was held on Wednesday January 31, 2007 in the school media center.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Fred Blaser at 6:30 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chester Hoernemann. Roll call was taken and Board members present included Fred Blaser, Robert Carlson, Jeff Hecksel, Chester Hoernemann, and Melissa Williams. Jim Jorgenson was absent. The audience included Carol Krage of the Crow River Coop
Bob Carlson made the motion to approve the consent agenda for this meeting. Chester Hoernemann seconded the motion and it passed 4 to 0.
There was no Old Business .
Under New Business Mr. Miller presented information to the Board about the current situation at the Crow River Cooperative and gave the rationale for directing Chester Hoernemann (The Lester Prairie representative on the Crow River Cooperative Board) to present a motion to dissolve the Coop.
A motion was made by Robert Carlson and seconded by Melissa Williams to direct Chester Hoernemann to make a motion at the next Crow River Board meeting (February 7, 2007) to dissolve the Crow River Cooperative effective June 30, 2007. The motion passed with a 5 to 0 vote.
A motion was made by Robert Carlson and seconded by Chester Hoernemann to direct the superintendent to investigate options and develop a plan to provide education services by joining a new cooperative as soon as the Crow River Board takes official action to dissolve the Coop. The motion passed with a 5 to 0 vote.
A motion was made by Chester Hoernemann and seconded by Jeff Hecksel to approve a three-year contract with EMBARQ to provide local, Centrex service to our District. The motion passed with a 5 to 0 vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:46 PM.
