REGULAR MEETING of the SCHOOL BOARD of EDUCATION
Lester Prairie Public Schools
Monday, November 20th, 2017 5:45pm

Roll call was taken and the following board members were present: Mary Otto, Steve Ziermann, Corbey Hentges, Marc Sebora, Rebecca Heimerl, and Meganne Stifter-Knoll. Administration and Staff present: Jeremy Schmidt, Melinda Anderberg, Krystina Peterson and Kim DeBruyckere. Other Guests: Ivan Raconteur for Herald Journal
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Steve Ziermann.
Motion by Stifter-Knoll seconded by Heimerl to approve the Consent Agenda as modified & to approve the minutes of the Regular meeting of 10/19/17, and in the same motion approve the approval to pay bills in the amount of $181,319.26 & Student Activity for $1,620.82 Vote: 6 for, 0 against
Recognition of Communications since Last Meeting:
A. Communication – Report -
1. Nice Volleyball and Football Banquets
2. School Play held with great attendance

Administrative Reports
Mr. Boyer K-12 Report: - highlights
• Students showed fantastic behavior throughout the first quarter of the school year with 110 weekly award winners and 26 Bulldog Barks for both Elementary and High School
• Great attendance and wonderful Veterans Day Program
• Congratulations to our Fall Play participants and Director Ms. Olson
• PTO held a free movie night. 100 bags of popcorn given out
• Holiday Store will be held Friday December 1st
Mr. Schmidt Superintendent Report: - highlights
• MSBA Leadership Conference being held for board members that would like to attend
• SWSC – Board of Directors Vote taking place
School Board Reports
A. Spec. Ed – none
B. Community Ed. – none
C. PTO – sponsoring movie night in the gym
a. $300 donated toward movie license, and $500 toward laminator
D. Facilities/Maint. – currently fully staffed
a. OSHA training on Personal Protective Equipment completed
b. Conducted monthly audits with custodial staff
c. Crush rock was laid in the parking lot by Hansen Gravel
d. Repaired 2 roof leaks
e. Installed new coat hooks on girl’s bathroom stall doors by office
f. Installed new handicap locker room signs
g. Installed new bathroom signs in the hallway on the HS side
h. Painted wall by the Basketball hoops
E. Tech/Media – Meeting this month
F. Activities Committee – Met 11/15
a. Fall Sports Review completed
i. Will review extra coach needs
b. Looking for Trap assistant coach
c. Spring Sports
i. Track and Field coach discussion
ii. Softball – reducing the number of games to 14 the normal schedule is 18. Revise to 16 games for rain out purposes.
d. Game Cost attendance – Price reductions
i. $2 –students - $2 Senior Citizens - $6 – Adults
ii. Looking at next year to put in place with season passes being purchased for this season
G. Negotiations:
a. Non-Certified – none
b. Certified – Contract Settled
i. 2.4% increase each year in line with State average
ii. Added grandchildren to bereavement leave
iii. Set criteria for Teach sub pay during prep period
iv. ECFE/K-Plus to change in accordance with salary agreement
v. Increased Jr. Class Advisors to 4% from 3%
vi. Added FPS and Challenge Club to Schedule C
H. Meet & Confer – meet 11/22 7:30 am

J. Legislative: Sebora – None
Policy Administration
• District student count as of 11/07/17 for K-12 is 455

Personnel Issues
• Motion made by Otto and 2nd by Heimerl to approve the contract for Samantha Dhoore as classroom paraprofessional with assigned duties. Vote: 6 for, 0 against
• Motion made by Sebora and 2nd by Otto to approve Rileigh Shackelton as Kid’s Depot worker with assigned duties. Vote: 6 for, 0 against
• Motion made by Sebora and 2nd by Ziermann the non-renewal of Rob Weber as Head Track and Field Coach Vote: 6 for, 0 against
New Business
• Motion made by Stifter Knoll and 2nd by Otto to approve the snow Removal contract of Litzau Excavating. Vote: 6 for, 0 against
• Motion made by Hentges and 2nd by Ziermann to the selection of the LP City Hall as the combined polling place for the 2018 Special Elections Vote: 6 for, 0 against
• Motion made by Ziermann and 2nd by Sebora to approve the Certified Masters Agreement Vote: 6 for, 0 against
• Next meetings December 18th - Regular and Truth in Taxation
