Roll call was taken and the following board members were present: Steve Ziermann, Meganne Stifter-Knoll, Mary Otto, Marc Sebora, Corbey Hentges and Rebecca Heimerl by phone. Administration present: Jeremy Schmidt, Mike Lee. Staff Alice Daak, and Katherine Carmine. Guests: Ivan Raconteur with Herald Journal, Steve Niklaus and Sandy Gundlach with MSBA.
Clerk Ziermann lead the pledge of Allegiance
Chairwoman Corbey Hentges open meeting by stating the board has elected to hire MSBA as consultant.
A. Current application deadline set be board is April 1st.
Sandy Gundlach introduction – MSBA was chosen as consultant to help in the search for new Superintendent.
A. MSBA uses hiring criteria
a. Team reviews for mistakes on applications
b. Eliminate some that are incomplete
c. Qualifications that meet board requirements
B. Preliminary reference checks completed
a. Social media checks
C. Candidates are labeled A thru Z
D. Applications are review in office one @ a time
a. Paper copies reviewed by Board
E. Interviews are set up
a. 4 to 6 that stand out to narrow it down
• MSBA has a broader range of candidates to include North Dakota and South Dakota.
• Placed in the Leader
• Reported to all Superintendent and Special Ed Cooperatives
• Reported to all Principal and assistant principals of school districts
Mr. Schmidt will email all current candidates to apply to the new MSBA listing for the LPHS Superintendent position.
Board will need to decide if it is just Board for interviews first round or Board & Staff 2nd round or vice versa.
Timeline established for process of hiring.
Hentges to do reference checks, as well.
Board is asked to provide 2 community member’s names and #’s for survey questions
School Staff will Question each Candidate
Online Survey link to Jeremy
Brochure will be sent back to Board for approval by April 5th.
