The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, January 23, 2012, Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 7:00 PM with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Baker, Seguin, Durick and Brasket. Absent: Milano and Frake
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
PROGRAM REVIEW – Resources that Change Pedagogy and Engage Learners
Technology Committee members presented on how the district staff are using technology in the classrooms and throughout the district.
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 12-19-11, organizational meeting minutes of 1-5-12, the current budget status with year to date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements; and donations.
PERSONNEL (approved unanimously)
Board approved reduction in force of DHS Nurse; resignations of CE Administrative Assistant, DMS Paraprofessional, two TAC staff; Leave of Absence for DMS Teacher requesting Family Leave.
Kathy Workman and Lindsay Wallace spoke on behalf of the Delano teaching staff.
Board heard the following administrative reports: Supt. Sweet reported on first year total energy savings and upcoming Citizens League nonpartisan state budget balancing workshop at Delano City Hall at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8; MS Prin R Klinkner reported on what happens at the district on a staff development day and planning for FY13; HS Prin M Schoen reported on upcoming HS registration and Winterfest; ES Prin D Schuler reported Leveled Library project, Food for Troops community service project and bullying; Bus Mgr reported that calendar year end processes are almost complete and starting to prepare for FY13 budget process; and CE Dir reported that the winter/spring brochure was mailed, enrollment in the different programs, and upcoming events.
Board heard reports from bd members regarding MAWSECO, Wright Technical Ctr, Community Educ Advisory Council, Curriculum Advisory Council, Schools for Equity in Educ., Delano Area Sports Arena, Safe Schools, Staff Dev., City/School Task Group, and an update on teacher negotiations.
