MINUTESRegular Meeting of the Board of Education Independent School District 879, Delano Public Schools
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, April 23, 2012, Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 7:00 PM with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Baker, Seguin, Durick, Brasket, Milano and Black. Absent: None
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
PROGRAM REVIEW – Special Education Update
Keely Swartzer gave an update on the district’s Special Education program, and Heather Walberg gave a presentation on the Elementary School DCD classroom.
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 3-19-12, special meeting minutes of 3-23-12, special meeting minutes of 4-19-12, the current budget status with year to date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements; and donations.
PERSONNEL (approved unanimously)
Board approved retirements of DMS Special Ed teacher, DES Grade 2 teacher, DES Grade 1 teacher; resignations of DES Paraprofessional, DMS Paraprofessional, DHS Soccer coach, DHS Tiger Dance Team coach, and one TAC staff; Recommendations of employment for DHS Tiger Dance Team coach and TAC WSI instructor; Contract changes and approvals for DHS Head Football coach, DHS Drama Director and Fall Play Choreographer, lane change for DMS teacher, and two lane change corrections; Leave of Absence for DMS Teacher requesting Family Leave; Resolution relating to termination and non-renewal of a probationary teacher.
Board heard the following administrative reports: Supt. Sweet reported on Q Comp and HS Principal interviews; MS Prin R Klinkner reported on DMS PIE donations, thanked various staff and congratulated various student groups; HS Prin M Schoen reported on upcoming HS events; ES Prin D Schuler reported on various Elementary activities that had taken place; Bus Mgr reported on CE boiler transfer; and CE Dir reported that the summer brochure was mailed, registration is open for summer programming, and on upcoming events.
Board heard reports from bd members regarding MAWSECO, Wright Technical Ctr, Community Educ Advisory Council, Curriculum Advisory Council, Schools for Equity in Educ., Delano Area Sports Arena, Safe Schools, Staff Dev., and City/School Task Group.

3. Final reading revision to Policy 621.12 – Development of Parental Involvement Policies for Title I Programs
