LEGAL NOTICECITY OF INDEPENDENCE
The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing in the Council Chambers at 1920 County Road 90 on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. to review the following requests:
1. Mike Kuka (Applicant/Owner) requests that the City consider the following actions for the properties located at 4405 County Road 92 N, Independence, MN (PID No.s 04-118-24-24-0002 and 04-118-24-31-0001):
a. A conditional use permit to allow a commercial riding stable on the subject property. The stable will host rodeo, horse related and similar events within the existing agriculture accessory structure on the property.
2. Proposed text amendments to the City of Independence Ordinances as follows:
a. Chapter 5, Sections 510 and 530;
1. Consider a new definition for recreational non-energy generating windmills along with restrictions on permitted locations and heights.
2. Establishment of a Zoning Permit for Fences and restriction on height and types of permitted fences.
3. Addition of new setback definition and provision relating to corner lots for accessory structures.
4. Consideration to amend Cluster Development provisions to require internal road access for all lots within the proposed development.
The items highlighted above may have a direct or indirect effect on your property. All persons wishing to be heard with reference to these applications will be given the opportunity at this meeting. The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, May 18, 2015, at the Delano High School Media Center. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 5:47 p.m. with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Black, Baker, Larson, Durick and Seguin. Absent: Milano.
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
WORK SESSION
Board reviewed discussion items: MSHSL Annual Membership Resolution and coaching initiative, new school board email addresses, DES 2015-16 Student Handbook, reviewed policies 524, 601 and 604, facilities/bond referendum, HITA bid process and health insurance information, August board retreat, and 2015-16 school calendar.
PROGRAM REVIEW

CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 4-27-15 and special meeting minutes from 4-30-15 and 5-12-15, the current budget status with year-to-date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.

Board approved retirements/resignations/terminations, recommendations of employment and contract changes which include: Retirements/resignations/terminations include: DMS Special Education Paraprofessional, (2) DHS Special Education Teacher, DMS Language Arts Teacher, CE Tiger Kids Club Student Aide. Recommendations of Employment include: DMS Special Education Teacher, (2) DMS 6th Grade Teacher, DES Long-term Substitute for Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, ESY Special Education Teacher, (3) ESY Special Education Paraprofessional, CE Tiger Kids Club Substitute Program Lead, CE Aquatics Instructor. Contract changes/approvals which include: Youth Development Coordinator Leaves of Absence: DHS Mathematics Teacher, DMS Physical Education/Health Teacher.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Superintendent Schoen reported on 2015 legislative session and educational funding. R. Klinkner was absent. S. Heil reported on MCA and ACT Testing, Teacher Appreciation Week, DHS Choir Concert, spring athletic teams, senior breakfast and Spring Fling Day. Concert, spring athletic teams, senior breakfast and Spring Fling Day. C. Lahr reported on MCA testing, 4th grade visit to middle school, Grandparent’s Day for 1st graders, 1st and 2nd grade music programs, end-of-year field trips, track and field days, and 4th grade sleepover. M. Reeder reported on insurance bids and 2015-16 budget. D.and 4th grade sleepover. M. Reeder reported on insurance bids and 2015-16 budget. D. Johnson reported on summer registration, MN Reading Corp benchmark testing, ECFE, Wee Tiger Preschool, Tiger Kids Club registration, Destination ImagiNation, CE gymnastics program. Abbey Hutchins and Thomas Grover reported on DES, DMS and DHS activities. Board heard reports from: MAWSECO and Wright Technical Center.
OLD BUSINESS: (approved unanimously)
Second read of policies 205, 406, 421, and 618 due to substantive and/or legal reference changes.
NEW BUSINESS (approved unanimously)
MS DC/NY 2016 Trip, 2015-16 Food Service Meal Price Increases, 2015-16 DHS Student Handbook, 2015-16 Bread and Milk Quotes, first and only read of policies 419, 603, and 619 due to non-substantive and/or legal reference changes, first read of policies 524, 601, and 604 due to substantive and/or legal reference changes.
