The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 5:48 p.m. with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Black, Baker, Larson, Seguin and Milano. Absent: Durick.
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
WORK SESSION
Board reviewed discussion items: Year 3 Strategic Work Plans, Superintendent’s Review, Board Retreat, Policy Review. Mr. Voight, MS Principal, Meet and Greet.
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 7-27-15, the current budget status with year-to-date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.
RESOLUTION OF ACCEPTANCE OF GIFTS (approved unanimously)
PERSONNEL (approved unanimously)
Board approved retirements/resignations/terminations, recommendations of employment and contract changes which include: Retirements/resignations/terminations include: DHS Vocal Teacher, CE Tiger Kids Club Program Lead, DES Special Education Paraprofessional. Board heard the following administrative reports: Superintendent Schoen reported on 2015 Bond Referendum. Dr. Heil reported on Professional Learning Communities, computer science and engineering design courses, student testing, DMS play, band camp, staff hiring. Mr. Schuler reported on ADSIS grant, DES student enrollment, staff hiring, Kindergarten Orientation and New Teacher Workshops. M. Reeder reported on annual audit and preliminary levy approval. D. Johnson reported on Fall CE Brochure, elementary school enrichment classes, Opening Doors, Concerts in the Park, DMS Play, Tiger Kids Club Fall Programming, Destination ImagiNation, Summer in the Park program, Summer Fishing Clinics, WEE Tiger Preschool enrollment, Early Childhood Screening, ECFE Open House. Board heard reports from: MAWSECO and DASA.
OLD BUSINESS (approved unavimously) Second read of Policies 410, 413, 425, 506, 509, 526, and 805 due to substantive and/or legal reference changes. Second read of NEW Policy 427.
NEW BUSINESS (approved unanimously)
Approved Service Agreement with WOLD Architects and Engineers, Service Agreement with ICS Consulting, first and only read of Policy 616 for yearly review, Girls’ Hockey Program beginning 2016-2017, Resolution Limiting Open Enrolllment and Adopting Standards for Accepting and Rejecting Open Enrollment Applications, Surplus Items for Sale and/or Disposal.
The meeting adjourned at 8:29 p.m. The preceding is a summary of the unofficial minutes. CITY OF DELANONOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGTuesday, October 6, 2015
Notice is hereby given that the Delano City Council will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. or as soon thereafter on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Delano City Hall Council Chambers, located at 234 2nd Street North, for the purpose of the submission of an application to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development for a grant under the Minnesota Investment Fund (MIF) program. The City of Delano is requesting approximately $720,000.00 to assist with the expansion of Sil-Pro, LLC. The funds will be used for the creation of jobs.
All interested parties are invited to attend the public hearing at which time you will be given the opportunity to express comments on the project. Written testimony will also be accepted at the public hearing. Written comments must be received by October 6, 2015 at City of Delano, 234 2nd St N. Delano, MN 55328. Specific questions can be directed to Phil Kern, City Administrator, at 763-972-0565.
