City of IndependenceADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDSMagnesium and/or calcium chloride Application ONE Year Contract
The City of Independence, MN is accepting sealed bids for the application of approximately 60,000 gallons of 30% magnesium and/or 38% calcium chloride for road stabilization.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Independence City Hall located at 1920 County Road 90, Independence, MN 55359 and will be publicly opened at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Independence City Hall. They will be considered by the City Council at its regular meeting on April 12, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.
The City of Independence reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities thereof.
All bids shall be addressed to the Public Works Director, City of Independence, 1920 County Road 90, Independence, MN 55359, sealed and marked “Dust Control MATERIALS.” No faxes will be accepted. A Certificate of Insurance is to be submitted at the time the bid is submitted.

Sealed bids will be received by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016 and opened and tabulated by the Public Works Director at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2016. They will be considered by the City Council at its regular meeting on April 12, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. for the following:
• 3⁄4” Class 2 Limestone
• 1 1⁄2” Clear Limestone
• 1⁄2” Clear
• 1” Class 5 Limestone
• Winter Washed Sand
• Class 5 Recycled Conbit
• Class 5 gravel
Bids shall state the price per ton at the quarry, price per ton delivered and placed on City roads, and price per ton delivered to the City and stockpiled. Bids will also be accepted for hauling only.
Bid security in the amount of 5% for 6000 tons of Class 2 Limestone must accompany each bid. Bid security will not be required for all other products.
All bids shall be addressed to the Public Works Director, City of Independence, 1920 County Road 90, Independence, MN 55359, sealed and marked “ROAD MATERIALS.” No faxes will be accepted. A Certificate of Insurance is to be submitted at the time the bid is submitted.
The City of Independence reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any information herein.

Regular Meeting of the Board of Education Independent School District 879, Delano Public Schools
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 5:46 p.m. with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Baker, Seguin, Larson, Durick, Milano. Late: Black arrived at 6:45 p.m.

CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 1-25-16 and the current budget status with year-to-date adjustments, investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.

Board approved retirements/resignations/terminations, recommendations of employment and contract changes which include: Retirements/Resignations/Terminations include: DES Lunchroom Custodian, JV Lacrosse Assistant Coach, DHS Assistant Principal, DHS Math Teacher. Board heard the following administrative reports: Superintendent Schoen reported on School Board Recognition Week. Mr. Voight reported on DMS Targeted Services Program, MCA and FAST testing, Pennies for Patients fundraiser, 2016-2017 Student Handbook, Scheduling Task Force Committee, 7-12 School Redesign, Mindset Matters initiative. Dr. Heil reported on ACT test, award received by Guidance Counselor Susan Farbo, Coach interviews and interview process, 2016-2017 class registrations, 7-12 school redesign staff listening sessions. Mr. Schuler reported on MN Reading Corps Program. M. Reeder reported on MDE 2015 Finance Award and new 5-Year Projection Model. D. Johnson reported on Youth Art Program, new Youth Development Coordinator, ECFE, MN Reading Corps Program, TKC Summer Registration, TKC Fall Open House and Registration, TAC memberships and Destination ImagiNation. Board heard reports from: MAWSECO, Wright Technical Center, Curriculum Advisory Council, Schools for Equity in Education (SEE), Delano Area Sports Arena (DASA), Safe Schools and Professional Development.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS (approved unanimously)
Approved Agreement for the Purchase and Removal of Building, First read of policies due to substantive and/or legal reference changes, Revised 2016-2017 School Calendar, Application for 2016-2017 Girls’ Hockey Cooperative Sponsorship.
