The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the vice chair at 5:45 p.m. with the following members in attendance: Seguin, Larson, Black, Milano, Depa and Briesemeister. Absent: Johnson.
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board reviewed discussion items: ESSA Transportation Agreement with Hennepin County, POC Update, FY18 Preliminary Budget, School/Community Diversity Update, Administrative Performance Goals/Evaluation, Policy 533-Wellness, Board Retreat.

CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 5-22-17 and the current budget status with year-to-date adjustments, investment transactions, construction bond investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Assets fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.
PERSONNEL (approved unanimously)
Board approved retirements/resignations/terminations, recommendations of employment and contract changes which include: Retirements/Resignations/Terminations include: Food Service Worker, DES Speech Teacher, TKC Classroom Aide, DHS Vocal Music Teacher, DMS Nurse, Superintendent’s Asst./School Board Asst./Communications Coordinator, DES Assistant Principal, Building and Grounds Coordinator, DHS School Counselor, DES Paraprofessional, DHS Social Studies Teacher. Recommendations of Employment include: (2) CE Volleyball Camp Asst., ESY Paraprofessional, WSI/Lifeguard, CE Summer Tutor, ECFE/TKC/School Readiness Substitute, Building and Grounds Coordinator, Head Boys Cross Country Coach, TKC Program Asst. Substitute, Student School Board Representative, Head Girls Cross Country Coach, Tiger Youth Gymnastics Coach, Water Safety Instructor, CE Tennis Camp Assistant, TAC Monitor, Tiger Gymnastics Coach. Contracted New Hires: DES ADSIS Teacher, DHS Counselor, (2) DMS 6th Grade Teacher, DHS Spanish Teacher, DES 2nd Grade Teacher, (2) DES 3rd Grade Teacher, DES 1st Grade Teacher, DHS Social Studies Teacher, DES Music Teacher, DHS Science Teacher, DHS Speech Pathologist. Contract Changes/Approvals/Position Changes: ECSE Teacher. Leaves of Absence: TKC Teacher, DHS/DMS Custodian.
PUBLIC COMMENT: B. Anderson spoke about diversity/bullying issues.
Board heard the following administrative reports: Superintendent Schoen shared construction project update and campus navigation details during construction and week of July 4. B. Voight reported on DMS staff hiring, school climate survey results. S. Heil reported on staff hiring, construction projects. D. Schuler reported on summer school, assistant principal resignation, upcoming assistant principal interviews. M. Reeder reported on September audit. D. Johnson reported on program registration, Wee Tiger Preschool, Tiger Kids Club, youth service projects, Sandlot t-ball, gymnastics, Destination Imagination results. Board heard reports from: MAWSECO and Wright Technical Center.
NEW BUSINESS (approved unanimously)
Approved WTC Long-Term Facility Maintenance Program Budget Resolution, 2017-2018 Original Budget, Long-Term Facilities Maintenance 10-Year Plan, 2017-2018 DES Student Handbook, 2017-2018 DMS Student Handbook, Resolution Updating School District Population for Community Education, 2017-2018 Activity Fees.
