UNOFFICIAL SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES I.S.D. #466, BOARD OF EDUCATION 6:00 PM REGULAR BOARD MEETING, MAY 22, 2017 DASSEL-COKATO BOARD ROOM
In partnership with our communities, Dassel-Cokato Public Schools will provide all learners opportunities designed to maximize their potential and promote lifelong learning.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room, Cokato, Minnesota, on Monday, May 22, 2017.
Clemen called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
The following members were present: Clemen, Colberg, Sangren, Nelson, Aho and Bender. The following were absent: None
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance.
Motion by Aho, seconded by Nelson, accepting the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Hailey Hoskins, daughter of Kristin and Evan Mahlstedt of Howard Lake and Michael Hoskins of Dassel received the Russell A. Johnson Courtesy and Respect Award for April.
Hana Pokornowski, daughter of Tammi and Paul Pokornowski of Cokato, received the Russell A. Johnson Courtesy and Respect Award for May.
Motion by Bender, seconded by Nelson, approving payment of bills as presented including payroll, hand payables and contingency totaling $1,951,560.35. Motion carried unanimously. (A complete list of bills is available from the District Office for review.)
Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC) Report: None
MAWSECO Report: Written
Community Education Report: Written
Business Manager’s Report: Business Manager Palmer reported expenditures are in line with budget through the end of the eleventh month of the fiscal year and reviewed the investment report with the board.
DCRISC – Clemen reported on the DCRISC Board Meeting and a meeting between school leadership and DCRISC leadership.

Motion by Aho, seconded by Bender, approving all consent items, which included approval of the minutes from the April 24, 2017 Regular Board Meeting, May 1, 2017 Special Board Meeting, May 8, 2017 Special Board Meeting. Approval of the wire transfers made on April 25th for $175,000, April 28th for $650,000, May 10th for $150,000 and May 15th for $850,000. Personnel items approved: resignation/retirement of Gail Ganser as a Dassel Elementary teacher effective the end of the school year (6/5/2017), resignation of Matthew Hanson as a High School Science teacher and coach effective the end of the school year (6/5/2017), resignation of Ginger Limanen as a MS Kitchen Assistant effective 6/2/2017, resignation of Jody Selseth as a Cokato Special Needs Paraeducator effective 6/2/2017, resignation of Brenda Almazan as a Cokato Kindergarten Paraeducator effective 6/2/2017, resignation of Mary Kay Morris as a Cokato Kindergarten Paraeducator effective 6/2/2017, resignation of Maria Kilpela as a Dassel Special Needs Paraeducator effective 6/2/2017, resignation of Emily Aho as a Dassel Title I Paraeducator effective 6/2/2017, resignation of Wendy Korhonen as Dassel Special Needs Paraeducator effective 6/2/2017, assignment of Kyle Nquist as a volunteer varsity assistant baseball coach, Employment of Brielle Muhonen as a Middle School 5th grade Instructor, Employment of Kayla Blommer as the High School/Area Learning Center English Instructor, Approve the list of Community Education 2017 Spring/Summer Coaches/Instructors, Approve reduction of FTE’s for Katie Teesdale from .67 to .61 High School Art Instructor for 2017-2018 school year, Approve lane changes for TJ Anderson from BA to BA+15, for Katie Atkinson from BA to BA+15, for Michael Barton from MA+15 to MA+30. Acceptance of Donations From Dairy Queen - $294.50 to Dassel Elementary, Dairy Queen - $294.50 to Cokato Elementary, Box Tops for Education – $454.90 to Dassel Elementary, Community Shares of MN (Allina Health) & Joelle Woetzel - $100 to Dassel Elementary, Wells Fargo, Community Connection Grant - $1,000 to the High School, For the Dassel Elementary Bike Rally: Lions Club of Cokato-Dassel - $200, Charger Chiropractic - $100, Dassel Fire Relief Association - $200, J.R. Oil - $100 and JC Fitness, Inc. - $50, From The Morris Foundation - $12,000 for the FFA South Africa trip, Rachel Yates & Wells Fargo - $69.24 to the music program, Darwin Rod & Gun Club - $250 to Youth Recreation School of Fish program, Rainbow Sportsmen’s Club Inc. - $50 to Youth Recreation School of Fish program, Dassel Rod & Gun Club - $250 to Youth Recreation School of Fish program. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Aho, seconded by Colberg, approving an increase to activity fees of $20 for individuals and $40 to the individual caps. The estimated revenue of the increase was $28,000.00 intended to help offset 17-18 deficit spending. After discussion Clemen took a roll call vote: In favor – Clemen, Colberg Against – Aho, Nelson, Sangren, Bender. Motion failed.
Motion by Nelson, seconded by Bender, approving the 17-18 Capital Plan. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Nelson, seconded by Aho, approving Membership in the Minnesota High School League for 17- 18. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Bender, seconded by Nelson, authorizing the business manager to close a money market account at First National Bank. Motion carried unanimously.
At 7:24 Clemen closed the meeting for a Negotiations Strategy Session. The session was recorded in accordance with state statute.
At 7:49 p.m., the meeting was opened.

Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:56 p.m.

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato, Minnesota) was duly held in the Dassel-Cokato Board Room, Cokato, Minnesota, on Monday, June 12, 2017.
Clemen called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
The following members were present: Aho, Clemen, Sangren, Colberg, Bender and Nelson. The following were absent: none.
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance.
Motion by Aho, seconded by Nelson, approving the agenda as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Business Manager Palmer presented the 17-18 budget for a first reading.
Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:57 p.m.
