Regular Meeting of the Board of Education
Independent School District 879, Delano Public Schools
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Delano High School. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 5:45 p.m. with the following members in attendance: Depa, Larson, Seguin, Black, Briesemeister Johnson and Milano. Absent: None.
APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA (approved unanimously)
WORK SESSION
Board reviewed discussion items: Policy 613, Community Ed. employee handbook, update from the POC Committee, FY18 budget update and FY19 preliminary update, committee reports, 2017-18 activities data, review of building plaque drafts.
PROGRAM REVIEW
Q Comp Program – M. Menz, M. Gibas
CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the regular meeting minutes of 5/21/18. It also approved the current budget status with year-to-date adjustments, investment transactions, construction bond investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Asset Fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.

Board approved retirements/resignations/terminations, recommendations of employment and contract changes, including:
Retirements/Resignations/Terminations: DHS paraprofessional, DHS counselor, DIS yearbook advisor, TKC classroom aide (2), DHS custodian, TAC student monitor (2). Recommendations of Employment: DIS cook (2), DIS webmaster, JV girls soccer coach, early childhood programs coordinator, TKC college aide, DIS yearbook advisor, TKC classroom aide, TKC program assistant, spring musical director, JV boys soccer coach, DIS health office professional, DES summer custodian, assistant football coach, head cheer coach, summer tennis coach (2), boys head swim coach, DHS cook (2), co-head boys golf coach (2), DHS dishwasher. Contracted New Hires: DHS special education teacher, DHS math teacher, third-grade teacher, fifth-grade teacher, DES gifted and talented teacher, second-grade teacher. Contract Changes/Approvals/Position Changes: 2018-20 contracts for accountant, building and grounds coordinator, business manager, director of teaching and learning, clearly childhood programs coordinator, health office professionals/assistants labor agreement, HR compensation/benefits specialist, payroll specialist contract and superintendent and school board assistant/communications coordinator. Food service staff member increase in hours, DHS dishwasher to DIS dishwasher, DHS cook to DHS assistant head cook with increase in hours, DHS special education administrative assistant to DHS administrative assistant, DHS cook to DIS assistant head cook with increase in hours. Leaves of Absence: None.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Superintendent Schoen provided updates on construction and on implementation of the strategic plan. B. Voight reported on the move from the middle school to the intermediate school, set up in the intermediate school, and the DIS open house date. S. Heil reported on staffing, summer office schedules, construction and campus use. G. Hinker reported on the Student Support Team process and summer school. M. Reeder reported on the filing period for the 2018 school board election. D. Johnson reported on the summer park program, the arrival of a new ECFE programs manger, the Gale Woods farm camp, Destination Imagination performances at Global Finals and other activities. Board heard reports from: MAWESECO, Wright Technical Center and SEE.
NEW BUSINESS (approved unanimously)
Board approved the revised FY18 LTFM expenditure budget, the 2018-2019 long-term facilities maintenance plan, the original 2018-2019 budget, the lead in water management plan, the first and only read of Policy 615, Policy 618 and Policy 623 due to non-substantive and legal reference changes, and the first read of Policy 613 due to substantive changes.
The meeting was closed to discuss contract negotiations strategy.
The meeting adjourned at 8:11 p.m. The preceding is a summary of the unofficial minutes. CITY OF DELANO
NOTICE OF FILING FOR THE NOVEMBER ELECTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to those persons who wish to file for the office of City Council to be voted on in the City Election on November 6, 2018 should file with the Office of the City Clerk such intentions and pay the regular filing fee of $2.
The first day of filing is Tuesday, July 31, 2018, opening time 7:30 AM. The last day of filing is Tuesday, August 14, 2018 closing time 5:00 PM.
The following will be voted on:
Mayor (4-year term)
Two City Council Members (4-year terms)
The terms of Mayor, Dale Graunke; and City Council Members Jason Franzen and Holly Schrupp will expire December 31, 2018. Those elected on November 6th will begin their duties the first business day of 2019, and continue through the last business day of December 2022.

NOTICE OF FILING DATES FOR ELECTION TO THE SCHOOL BOARD
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 879
DELANO PUBLIC SCHOOLS
STATE OF MINNESOTA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member of Independent School District No. 879 shall begin on July 31, 2018, and shall close at 5:00 o’clock p.m. on August 14, 2018.
The general election shall be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. At that election, four (4) members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four (4) years.
Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district clerk, 700 Elm Avenue East, Delano, MN 55328. The filing fee for this office is $2. A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election.
The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5:00 o’clock p.m. on August 14, 2018.

HEARING ON PETITION FOR FORMAL PROBATE OF WILL AND APPOINTMENT OF PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVE AND NOTICE TO CREDITORS
Notice is given that on August 3, 2018 at 1:30 p.m., a hearing will be held in this Court at Buffalo, Minnesota, on a petition for the formal probate of an instrument purporting to be the Decedent’s Will dated October 27, 2000, and for the appointment of Cheryl J. Gordon, whose address is 407 Buffalo St., Delano, MN 55328 as personal representative of the Decedent’s estate in an unsupervised administration.
Any objections to the petition must be raised at the hearing or filed with the Court prior to the hearing. If the petition is proper and not objections are filed or raised, the personal representative will be appointed with the full power to administer the Decedent’s estate, including the power to collect all assets; pay all legal debts, claims, taxes and expenses; sell real and personal property; and do all the necessary acts for the Decedent’s estate.
Notice if further given that, subject to Minn. Stat. § 524.3-801, all creditors having claims against the Decedent’s estate are required to present the claims to the personal representative or to the Court within four (4) months after the date of this notice or the claims will be barred.
