The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 879, Delano, Minnesota, was held on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020, at Delano City Hall. The meeting was called to order by the chair at 5:47 p.m. with the following members in attendance: Johnson, Black, Seguin, Rosenow, Depa, Roeser and Briesemeister. Absent: None.

Board reviewed discussion items: face covering policy, Reopening Task Force report, and the fiscal year 2021 levy authorization process.

CONSENT AGENDA (approved unanimously)
Board approved the meeting minutes from July 27, Aug. 3 and Aug. 17, 2020, and the current budget status with year-to-date adjustments, investment transactions, construction bond investment transactions, wire transfers, Minnesota Liquid Asset Fund, cash report, revenue and expense fund totals, expense reports and disbursements.
RESOLUTION OF ACCEPTANCE OF GIFTS (approved unanimously)
PERSONNEL (approved unanimously)
Board approved retirements/resignations/terminations, recommendations for employment, contract changes/approvals/position changes, and leaves of absence, including: Retirements/Resignations/Terminations: boys cross country assistant coach, DES recess paraprofessional, DHS dish machine operator, DIS art teacher, DIS teacher, TKC classroom aide, DES principal, head Math League coach, DHS custodian, DHS food service member. Recommendations for Employment: TAC supervisor, kindergarten long-term substitute, boys cross country assistant coach. Contracted New Hires: DIS special education teacher. Contract Changes/Approvals/Position Changes: superintendent’s contract.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND BOARD REPORTS
Board heard the following administrative reports: Superintendent Schoen referred members to his program review earlier in the meeting. J. Vieau reported on DIS distance learning logistics, staffing, the Long Lake Conservation Center trip cancellation, open house preparations and the visit from Julia Cook. B. Voight reported on high school planning efforts, distance learning plans, staffing, attendance procedures and high school events. G. Hinker reported on summer school, elementary distance learning preparations and Orientation Days. M. Reeder reported on food service preparations and student enrollment. D. Johnson reported on summer programs and fall preparations, the absence of a printed fall brochure, and various other programs. Board heard reports from: MAWSECO and Wright Technical Center.
NEW BUSINESS (approved unanimously)
Board approved the exemption of a second-read policy procedure and approved Policy 810 – Face Coverings, a new policy.
The meeting adjourned at 8:04 p.m. The preceding is a summary of the unofficial minutes.
