Walter Leo Dehnbostel obituary 1/17/98


Walter Leo Dehnbostel was born June 18, 1918 at Howard
Lake, Minn., the son of Henry and Emma (Kraul) Dehnbostel. A life long member
of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, he was baptized on July 14, 1918
by Reverend A.L. Oetjen and confirmed in his faith on March 20, 1932 by
the Reverend C.G. Seitz.
He grew up on the family farm near Lake Emma, Victor Township
and graduated from Howard lake High School in 1936. Walter served his country
during World War II in the army as a carpenter general (demolition expert)
achieving the rank of Tech 5. After 3 1/2 years of service, he returned
home to work on the farm.
Walter was united in marriage to Delores Hermerding June
8, 1946 at St. James by the Reverend Theo. Melinat. Their 51 years together
were blessed with the birth of three children.
Walter and Delores made their home and livelihood on a
farm in Victor Township. He also served as township assessor for many years
and worked seasonally for C & H Ag Service for over 15 years. He enjoyed
gardening and raised vegetables in several different gardens each summer.

On Jan. 17, 1998 at his home, Walter Dehnbostel was called
to his eternal rest suddenly at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 29 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma
Dehnbostel and one brother, William.
Walter is survived by his wife, Delores of Howard Lake;
one daughter, Carol Chapman of Brooklyn Center; two sons, Jim Dehnbostel
of Plymouth and Gary and wife, Laura Dehnbostel of Prior Lake.
He is further survived by three sisters, Edna Butterfass,
Esther Lorentz, Eva and husband, Maurice Glessing, all of Howard Lake; four
grandchildren: Chris Chapman and wife Jennie, Mary Beauto and husband Tim,
Candice Dehnbostel and Cassandra Dehnbostel; one great grandchild, Kathryne
Beauto and a host of relatives and friends.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home
of Howard Lake. Services were held Jan. 21, 1998 at St. James Lutheran Church
with the Reverend Michael Nirva and the Reverend Martin Schoenfeld officiating.
The organist was Diane Johnson. Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bob Schendel, Dan Fogarty, Chris Chapman,
Tim Beauto, Allen Glessing, and Wally Krienke.
