Allan S. LePage obituary 9/23/98


Allan S. LePage, age 64 of Howard Lake, died early Wednesday,
Sept. 23, 1998 in Howard Lake, Minn.
Al was born in Waverly on May 1, 1934, the son of Genevieve
and the late Valtimere LePage.
He was joined in holy marriage to Marcy Marquette on June
11, 1955 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo, Minn.
A lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly,
he participated in scripture readings on Sundays, as well as other activities.
For several years, he served on the church finance committee.
A graduate of St. Thomas University, Al also received his
masters degree at St. Cloud State University.
He retired in June 1991 after a 35 year career as an educator
at Howard Lake-Waverly High School, where he served as a teacher, coach
and principal. Since retirement, he has driven school bus for the district.
Al was also very active throughout his life in various
service organizations. He was a member of Knights of Columbus since 1950.
and a long-time member of the local Lion’s Club, where he served as president,
treasurer, and on other committees. He also coordinated the annual Lion’s
softball tournaments.
Softball was a big part of Al’s life. He played, coached,
and managed the Waverly Stingers fast pitch team for the better part of
20 years. Members of that team and their families will always remember the
various weekend tournaments the team participated in.
In recent years, Al became active in city government in
Howard Lake. He was currently serving on the city council and had recently
filed to run for the mayor’s position.
Al is survived by his wife Marcy; sons, Greg LePage of
Annandale, Steve and wife, Laura LePage of Duluth; two grandchildren, Danielle
and Jacques; his mother, Gen Lamb of Waverly; brothers, Ron and wife, Karen
LePage of Minnetonka, Val and wife, JoAnne LePage of Waverly; and one sister,
Linda King of Plymouth.
He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law,
many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Al was preceded in death by his father, Valtimere, and
his step-father, Gerry Lamb.
Funeral services for Al LePage are today, Sept. 28, at
10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
in Waverly. The Rev. Bill Martin will celebrate the mass and interment will
follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waverly.
Casket bearers are Dale Decker, Dennis Decker, John LePage,
Tim LePage, Dave LePage, Tom King, Bill Marquette and Al Wurm.
