Norman J. Vorlicek obituary 11/1/98


Funeral services for Norman J. Vorlicek, 82, of Silver
Lake were held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from Holy Family Catholic Church in
Silver Lake, with the Rev. Robert Mraz officiating.
Mr. Vorlicek died on Nov. 1, 1998, at Glencoe Area Health
Center’s long-term care facility.
Organist was Alice Nowak, and the Holy Family Adult Choir
sang. Nowak also played the accordion while Jean Pilarski sang “Lord
Receive Thy Servant.” Congregational hymns were “For All the Saints,”
“Amazing Grace,” “Be Not Afraid” and “How Great
Thou Art.”
Lector and eucharistic minister was a niece, Rosalie Knott.
Pallbearers were grandson, Paul Pilarski; nephews, Henry
Vorlicek Jr., Don Kasprzyk and Bill Yeckout; and relatives, Loren Jilek
and David Knott. Interment was in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Mr. Vorlicek was born on Oct. 6, 1916, on the family farm
in Hale Township to John and Josephine (Smida) Vorlicek. He received his
education at District 80, Hale Township.
He lived and worked from the age 16 on the family farm
with his mother.
On Sept. 10, 1940, Mr. Vorlicek was united in marriage
to Clara Kasprzyk at St. Adalbert’s Church in Silver Lake.
They farmed until they retired in January 1979. The Vorliceks
moved to Silver Lake in 1982.
Mr. Vorlicek enjoyed farming and caring for animals. His
interests included fishing with family, old-time music, dancing, visiting,
traveling and keeping up with current events.
On Feb. 3, 1995, Mr. Vorlicek was stricken by a massive
stroke that paralyzed his entire right side.
Survivors include his wife, Clara; son, Larry Vorlicek
and wife, Judy, of Eden Prairie; daughter Jean Pilarski and husband, Glenn,
of Delano; grandchildren, Michael and Kathleen Vorlicek, Ann Pilarski Alvord
and husband, Mike, of St. Joseph, Paul and Sara Pilarski; and great-grandson,
Ben Alvord; brother-in-law, Adam Kasprzyk; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry
Vorlicek; sister, Agnes Telecky; nephew, Earl Telecky; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law.
The Maresh Funeral Home of Silver Lake handled arrangements.
