Andy C. Artmann obituary, 11/17/99


Andy C. Artmann, age 97 of Winsted, died Wednesday, Nov.
17, 1999, at St. Mary’s Care Center.
Andy was born Jan. 23,1902, in Winsted, the son of Clemens
and Anna (Karels) Artmann.
On April 2,1925, he was joined in holy marriage to Mary
Neumann at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted.
Andy farmed west of Winsted near Sherman Station for many
years. He and Mary moved into Winsted in 1972 and Andy worked for several
years at Littfin Lumber. Mary preceded her husband in death, Sept. 27,1985.
A lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted,
Andy was also Holy Trinity’s oldest male parishioner.
He enjoyed carpentry and card playing.
Andy is survived by children: Jerome (Mildred) Artmann
and Lucille (Don) Hausladen, all of Minnetonka; Evelyn (Glennard) Fenske
of Watertown, and Ron (Carol Ann) Artmann of Winsted; daughters-in-law,
Mary Ann Artmann of Silver Lake, and Edith Artmann of Arizona; 31 grandchildren;
50 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sophia
Laxen of Winsted, and Ann Fiecke of Silver Lake; a sister-in-law, Ellen
Neumann of New Hope; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Andy was preceded in death by
infant daughters, Mary Ellen and Dorothy; sons, Clarence and Clemens Artmann;
two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; his parents; three brothers and
five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Nov. 22, 10:30 a.m.,
at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the
celebrant and Lavon Kielkucki provided special music for the Mass. Interment
followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, Sunday,
Nov. 21 from 3 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Andy Hausladen, Bruce Artmann, Dean Fenske, Jesse Artmann,
Don Artmann and Ken Artmann served as casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, served the family.
