Curtis V. Koch obituary, 1/6/2000


Curtis V. Koch, age 57 of Waconia, died Thursday, Jan.
6, 2000, after a courageous battle with male breast cancer. Curtis passed
away at his home with his family at his side.
Born Oct. 14, 1941, to Victor and Dorothy (Wisneski) Koch,
Curtis was brought to the Lord in Holy Baptism Nov. 1, 1942, by the Rev.
William Schneider. He was confirmed in faith March 25, 1956, by the Rev.
John W. Stehr at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia.
On June 6, 1964, Curt married Judith A Molnau at St. John’s
Lutheran Church, Chaska with the Rev. Roland Going officiating.
Curt worked at Koch Bus Service and Koch Implement for
his parents before becoming owner of Koch Bus Service in 1985.
He was active in the fire department for 35 years and served
as the secretary for 20 of those years.
An active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Curt started
the current video ministry at Trinity. He was happy to belong to what he
called the “Trinity Grass Cutter’s Union,” where he enjoyed mowing
the ball fields. He also loved attending the Cancer Support Gathering.
Curt dearly loved his grandchildren and found something
unique in each of them. He enjoyed taking them to the fire station and showing
them how all of the lights and sirens worked.
Curt and Judy enjoyed spending weekends in their camper,
motorcycle rides, and going to the Timberwolves games. Curt also found much
happiness in his card club and hunting outings.
Curt was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Koch;
father-in-law, Edward Molnau; and other relatives and friends.
Survivors include his wife Judy; sons and daughters-in-law,
Brian and Michelle Koch of Waconia; and Brad Koch of Chaska; daughter and
son-in-law, Brenda and Mark Wittrock of Marshall; and grandchildren: Samuel,
Klara (Cupcake), and Lucy Koch; and Joshua and Jalen Wittrock.
Curt is further survived by his father, Victor Koch of
Waconia; mother-in-law, Bernice Molnau of Chaska; brother and sister-in-law,
Ken and Ruth Koch of Waconia; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Faye
Molnau of Lakeville, Jack and JoAnn Rombough of Heathrow, Fl.; and Jay and
Kay Molnau of Chaska; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Christian funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, 7:30
p.m., at Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, with the Rev. Peter Peitsch officiating;
and also Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, 11:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church,
Waconia with the Rev. Dean Mahlum and Peitsch officiating. Kathy Hesse served
as organist, and Scott Buschena as soloist. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran
Cemetery, Waconia.
Casket bearers were Dennis Rolf, Jerry Weiland, Wayne Koch,
Carl Wacholz, Randy Sorensen, and Loren Anderson. Honorary casket bearers
were Joel Lowney, Virgel Bentz, Kermit Sievers, and the Waconia Fire Department.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
