Mass of Christian Burial for Marie Rose Bonine, age 85
of Glencoe and rural Plato, was Monday, April 16, at the Church of St. Pius
X in Glencoe. Marie died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at St. Mary’s Care Center,
Winsted.
Marie was born Dec. 15, 1915, the daughter of William and
Marie (Brinkmann) Steck in Bergen Township of McLeod County, Minn. She was
baptized and confirmed at St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Fernando Township.
Marie attended country school close to her home.
On June 22, 1941, Marie was united in marriage with Clarence
L. Bonine.
The couple farmed near New Auburn and later, Winsted, before
moving to rural Plato in 1967.
Marie worked as a waitress, and also as a checker in the
egg plant in Brownton.
She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women at the
Church of St. Pius X.
Gardening and flowers, sewing and cooking were things Marie
enjoyed. She also loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In October 1998, Marie became a resident of St. Mary’s
Care Center, Winsted.
At the time of her death, she had reached the age of 85
years, three months, and 26 days.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband
Clarence; a son, Darwin; a son-in-law, Elvin Lindemeier; sisters, Lilly
Riebe, Myrtle Cantazaro, and Lorna Maloney; and a brother, Floyd Anderson.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Fitzpatrick (Tom)
of Green Isle, Lawrence Schmidt (Jean) of Arlington, Darlene Poppler (Lee)
of Watertown, Lonny Bonine of Norwood Young America, and Milan Bonine (Joyce)
of Plato; a daughter-in-law, Jeanie Bonine of Bloomington; grandchildren,
Bonnie Peacher (Jim), Diane Alsleben (Leon), Wendy Bigouette (Francis Jr.),
Rodney Lindemeier (Patty), Laurie Rickard (Wayne), Kristie Lindemeier, Bruce
Schmidt (Gail), Brian Schmidt (Carla), Brenda Reinert (Tim), Michelle DeLong
(Darren), Debra Bonine and fiance Gregory Giles, Tamara Poppler, Lisa Read
(Tim), Tony Poppler (Amy), Julie Poppler, Tamara Cibrusky, Wes Bonine, Chad
Bonine (Christie), Melissa Bonine; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Art Polzin;
a sister-in-law, Wanda Anderson; as well as many other relatives and friends.
The Rev. Eugene Lozinski officiated at the 2 p.m. funeral
services. The organist was Emily Wilkins. Song leader was Wendy Bigouette.
Hymns were “On Eagle’s Wings,” “How Great Thou Art,”
“I Am The Bread Of Life,” and “Come To Her Aid.” Interment
was in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery.
Rodney Lindemeier, Bruce Schmidt, Brian Schmidt, Wes Bonine,
Chad Bonine, and Tony Poppler served as casket bearers.
Vistation took place Monday morning at the Johnson-McBride
Funeral Chapel, Glencoe, who handled the funeral arrangements.
