Merlyn W. Muelich
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 4, for Merlyn W. Muelich,
age 85 of New Germany. Merlyn died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Ridgeview Medical
Center, Waconia.
He was born Aug. 7, 1915, at Hollywood Twp., Carver Co.,
Minn., the son of George and Martha (Farber) Muelich. Merlyn was baptized
Aug. 29, 1915, at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp., by the Rev.
W. L. Ernst; and confirmed by the same March 27, 1929.
On Aug. 30, 1938, Merlyn was married to Lila A. Menth at
St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, by the Rev. Theodore Rolf.
Merlyn’s life work included milk and livestock hauling,
working for Norman Schwartz, Quinn Transfer, and McGarey Bros., and construction
for Wheeler Bridge and Lumber Co.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lila, his parents,
George and Martha Muelich; his stepfather, Arthur Borchart; and a brother-in-law
and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Erna Menth.
Merlyn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne
and Lois Muelich of Monticello; a sister and brother-in-law, Janola and
Ray Nelson of Milaca; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and
friends.
The Rev. Vicar Allen Holthus officiated at the 11 a.m
funeral service at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany. Interment was
at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.
Juergen Bettcher, Wayne Farber, Terry Jopp, Jason Klemp,
Russell Lange, and Dale Strei served as casket bearers.
Visitation took place on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until
the time of the funeral service.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
