Lillian Esther Rasmussen
Lillian Rasmussen, age 89, of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday,
Sept. 11, 2001, at Burns Manor Nursing Home, Hutchinson.
Lillian Esther (Sorenson) Rasmussen was born March 28,
1912, in Collins Township, McLeod County. She was the daughter of Thomas
and Hulda (Dressel) Sorenson.
She was baptized as an infant and, later, was confirmed
in her faith as a youth. Lillian attended school in Collins Township and
Cedar Mills Township, Minn.
Lillian Sorenson was united in marriage to Einer Rasmussen
Feb. 9, 1932, in Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with 11 children.

The family resided in Sumter Township, and they also farmed
in the Stewart area, before moving to Hutchinson in the late 1930s. Lillian
and Einer moved to Park Towers in 1983.
Lillian enjoyed taking care of her family as a homemaker.
She and Einer shared 53 years of marriage together, before Einer passed
away Sept. 3, 1985.
Lillian was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.
She enjoyed parades, listening to old time music, dancing, and visits from
her family.
When Lillian needed assistance with her daily care, she
became a resident of Burns Manor Nursing Home, Hutchinson, where she passed
away. Blessed be her memory.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and
Hulda Sorenson; husband, Einer Rasmussen; three sons in infancy; son-in-law,
Ervin Hauptli; brothers, Alvin Sorenson and Herb Sorenson; and sister, Rose
Grindal.
#Lillian is survived by her sons, Berga Rasmussen of Willmar,
Donald Rasmussen and his wife, Barb, of Hutchinson, Raymond Rasmussen and
his wife, Carol, of Maple Lake, Vernon Rasmussen and his wife, Judy, of
Howard Lake, Leonard Rasmussen and his wife, Lois, of Potlatch, Idaho;
Daughters, Elenore Hauptli of Reno, Nev., Gerda Winter
and her husband, Gayle, of New Ulm, Linda Jaskowiak and her husband, Michael,
of Annandale; 28 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother, Oscar Sorenson
of Glencoe; Many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at 10:30
a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Oakland
Cemetery.
The Rev. Randy Freund and the Rev. David Christensen officiated
at the service.
Organist was Shirley Holtz, and the congregational hymns
were “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “How Great Thou Art,”
“Amazing Grace,” and “Rock Of Ages.”
Chad Rasmussen, Allen Rasmussen, Matt Jaskowiak, Jacob
Jaskowiak, Einer Rasmussen, and Roger Rasmussen served as casket bearers.
Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Hutchinson, served the family.
