Rosalenda Martha Lillian Ziemer, 84, of Glencoe died Tuesday,
Oct. 13, at Glencoe Regional Health Services long-term care facility.
Rosalenda Rannow was born to Henry and Tena (Ahlbrecht)
Rannow April 11, 1919, in Heatwole. She was baptized and confirmed at the
St. John’s Church of Biscay. She graduated from the Glencoe High School
and attended two years of teacher’s training in Glencoe.
She was united in marriage with Clarence H. Ziemer June
14, 1942. The family operated farms near Silver Lake, and later Biscay.
Rosalenda worked as a school teacher and piano teacher.
She was an active member of St. John’s Church, where she was the church
organist for over 50 years, belonged to its Women’s Guild, and served as
the choir director.
She also was involved as a leader in 4-H, home extension,
and as a member of the Sweet Adelines singing group.
She loved her children and grandchildren. Her first great-grandchild,
Tahlia, brought great joy to her. Rosalenda liked gardening, music, baking
bread and being a homemaker to her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Clarence;
son Robert, granddaughters Faith and Paige Ziemer, sisters Tena Ayer and
Marie Petersen; and brothers Heinrich Rannow and Harry Rannow.
Survivors include her children: the Rev. Ronald (Lin) Ziemer
of Grand Forks, N.D., Gary (Carmen) Ziemer of Glencoe, Laurie (Jim) Shoberg
of Rockford; grandchildren, Chad (Dawn) Ziemer, Christopher (Hilary) Ziemer,
Heather (Chris) Lee, Jason Ziemer and fiancee Sara Bauer, Dana (Lonnie)
Haas; great-granddaughter, Tahlia Haas; other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services for Rosalenda were Friday, Oct. 17, at
St. John’s Church of Biscay. Officiating was the Rev. Ronald Ziemer and
the Rev. Robert Taylor.
The organist was Chad Ziemer. Soloist David Swift sang
“Lead Me Gently Home, Father,” and the Rev. Jim Dahlgren sang
“Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”
The congregational hymns were “Blessed Assurance,”
“Softly and Tenderly,” “It Is Well With My Soul,” “Precious
Lord Take My Hand,” and “Softly and Tenderly.”
Bruce Mielke played “The Rosalenda Waltz.” The
St. John’s Church Choir sang “Take My Hand Precious Lord” and
“My God And I.”
Pallbearers were Chad and Dawn Ziemer, Christopher and
Hilary Ziemer, Heather and Chris Lee, Jason Ziemer and Sara Bauer, Dana
and Lonnie Haas. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel
in Glencoe.
