Mabel E. Cuhel, 12/29/04


Mabel E. Cuhel, age 89 of Hutchinson and formerly of Silver Lake, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, 2004 at Bums Manor in Hutchinson.
She was born in Glencoe Nov. 21, 1915, the daughter of Frank and Frances Tobias Charney.
Mabel and Jerome Cuhel were joined in holy marriage May 21, 1937 at the Congregational Church in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with three sons.
Jerome and Mabel engaged in dairy farming east of Silver Lake in Winsted Township, McLeod County for many years.
Jerome preceded his wife in death in 1991.
Mabel was a faithful member of Grace Bible Church in Silver Lake, and formerly belonged to its Ladies Aid.
She is survived by three sons: Marvin (Marlit) Cuhel of Hutchinson, Donald (Carol) Cuhel of Winsted, and Melvin (Arlene) Cuhel of Walker; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Gruenwaldt of Hutchinson; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by two great- grandchildren, Chad Schmeling and Tyler Cuhel; her parents, Frank and Frances Charney; a brother, Stanley; and sisters, Emma and Lillian.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. The Rev. Dr. Tom Rakow and the Rev. Gerald Hintz officiated. Interment followed at the Congregational Cemetery.
Cheryl Jakobitz was the organist. Special music was provided by Michael and Kristina Zins. Congregational hymns were “In the Garden” and “It Is Well with My Soul.”
Casket bearers were Mark Cuhel, Lyle Schesso, Norman Geyer, Todd Cuhel, Brian Schmeling, and Shannon Jergens.
The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.
