Adeline E. “Dolly” Ortloff obituary, 2/27/04


Adeline E. “Dolly” Ortloff, age 82, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and a former longtime resident of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, in Capitola, Calif.
She was born Jan. 28, 1922 in Silver Lake, the daughter of James and Molly Shovelain O’Hagan.
Dolly and Elmer Ortloff were joined in holy marriage April 8, 1939, in Glencoe. God blessed their marriage with four children.
Dolly was a resident of California for the past 12 years, after moving from Minneapolis.
She was a 60-year member of The Degree of Honor.
Through the years, Dolly always maintained a passion for dancing.
She is survived by four loving children: Robert E. Ortloff of Arlington, Texas; Michael D. Ortloff of San Jose, Calif., Winnifred Velner of Surprise, Ariz.; and Patricia Ouellette of Scotts Valley, Calif.; seven grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bartels of La Palma, Calif.; and other relatives and friends.
Dolly is preceded in death by her dear husband of 60 years, Elmer E. Ortloff, who died March 9, 1999; her parents, James and “Molly” Shovelain O’Hagan; a sister, Idene Hertzog; and brothers: Ambrose, Clayton, Donald and Bernie.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dolly Ortloff was Wednesday, March 3, 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the Celebrant, and interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called one hour prior to Mass at the church Wednesday.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
